Brought a growler back from a vacation to Graeagle

Motor oil black, coffee-ish, opaque, decent visible carbonation and good head after pour. Massive lacing.
Roasted chocolate and hops, maybe sweet malt in there too. I very much like the aroma, though a bit more hop presence wouldn't hurt.

Roasted chocolate malt taste, stoutlike but with good character. Bitterness, a bit of earthyness to it, alcohol present but well handled.. the malt is really what's showcased here but it is good.

Feel is thin but in a good way- thick but smooth. You could enjoy pint after pint of this one.

A solid beer from a solid brewery.

Growler to a pint glass, filled two days ago. Thanks to my friend Megan for picking this up!

Pours black with ruby red hues when held up to the sun, the other side of my pint glass is visible so there's some transparency. A finger of foam has died down pretty quickly to a frothy ring with mild carbonation stemming from a few spots on the sides, not much lacing

Poured a bit in a snifter to get a better smell. Strong hops up front, lots of citrus, grapefruit, pine, and some tropical notes. Strong roasted chocolate malts, backed up by molasses and caramel, and a hint of vanilla. A splash of alcohol ties it all up- reminds me of Stone's Sublimely Self Righteous ale. The smell's incredible

Taste isn't quite on par with the nose, but still really good. Hops aren't as strong as in the smell, but still retain all the fruit notes- strong grapefruit, tropical fruits, and a bit of citrus, backed up by a nice floral earthy pine. Roasted malts are consistent, strong chocolate followed by some caramel, finished with a bready malt and a touch of alcohol

Feel is a creamy medium body, smooth with a wet finish. Pretty high bitterness and the right amount of carbonation makes it pretty easy to drink

Overall I'm pretty impressed by such a small brewery, I'm a sucker for black ipas and this holds up to the best of them. Worth seeking out if you're within an hour or two away and are looking for a day out of town. Can't wait to check the place out for myself
