is this that style of beer from the old world made with no hops? i think it might be. it pours a soothing looking pale orange color with a small white head. it smells incredibly floral, lavender i reckon, with all kings of interesting yeast going on. the flavor is totally lavender, not quite hand soap, but similarly potent. its pollenated and fresh, more springtime than autumn, but delicious just the same. the alcohol is also pretty potent. feel is good, smooth and well carbonated, with a nice medium body. its a real different brew, the floral notes are so up front, more so than almost any beer i can remember. i like it a lot, but the small 8oz. pours are plenty. overall something one of a kind and worth a try. i had it at vine street, but i think its on at all three mountain sun spots.

A bit of a 'thick' looking golden pour. Not really hazy, just darker than clear...?
Sweet aroma of honey and pear. A good malt backdrop makes it seem like a sweet bread.
Taste follows the nose. Sweet up front without that sugary presence. Very soft clove spice blends well with some malt. Soft fruit comes and goes along with a light honey.
Not a crisp beer, but not 'filmy' either. 8oz glass was just enough...to have two. Serving it in a bigger glass would have been too much at once. Odd...

On tap at Mountain Sun's Vine St Pub in Denver, CO. Served in a small goblet.
A: Very cloudy orange amber with a soapy eggshell cap. Head retention is pretty good and a heavy lace is left.
S: Honey is the dominant aroma here. It's backed up by a bit of clove and caramel. Alcohol adds an extra tingle to the nose.
T: Very sweet out front. The honey really dominates this one. The malt is along for the ride with an extra layer of sweetness. Bitterness is mild and slightly spicy. The alcohol brings up the rear and adds a nice warmth to the finish.
M: Incredibly thick, dense and syrupy. Carbonation feels just a touch high.
D: This was a nice change of pace. Very much a Mead meets Beer experience, which was the point. I'm really glad I tried it.

Was lucky enough to catch this on-tap during my last week in Colorado. Review from notes.
A- Pours a dark, deep golden. Thin off-white colored head.
S- There was a strong sweetness in the nose. Lots of malt and some floral hops detectable as well. Pretty balanced.
T- Much like the aroma. Was really surprised as to how well the alcohol was kept in check. The honey produced a wonderful sweetness, but was not overpowering in any way. Had a great malt backbone.
M- Medium bodied with some carbonation. Had a crisp, semi-dry finish.
D- Really drinkable for a braggot.
Overall, really balanced and well done. Probably my favorite braggot to date.

This is not your typical American Strong Ale. It pours a delicate sand color with a tan head. The nose is very malty and sweet with just enough hops to keep it in control. The taste is also malt strong with mellow some floral hops. There is a well balanced honey flavor in the mix. This stuff has a full yet crisp body. Delicious.
