On tap at the Mountain Sun in Boulder. Maty aromas, little head buy yet a lace trail. It has hops and malt, but its a so-so beer, a medium mouthffel, and with a little dishwater finish, not so drinkable. Needs more assertive hops and different water. There are better choices here.

First had: on tap at their brewpub

Poured a caramelized amber with a decent white head that receded to a thin layer. Simple; a good balance of sweet malts and floral hops in both the aroma and flavor, providing a mild start and a dry finish. Medium-bodied and good for a no-nonsense session.

The beer pours a hazy dark amber color with a thin offwhite head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a complex malt scent that boasts of pale, crystal, and roasted malts along with a wonderful floral hop aroma. The taste is good also. It has a rich, malty flavor that goes down easy and finishes dry and bitter. It boasts of several malts; an excellent malt bill. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is another good beer from these guys. It's smooth and malty with fine hop notes; a good drinker.

Copper/rust/burgundy body. A bit of reddish/tan/white head. Disapates quickly.
Smells of light fruit and malt, caramel, juicy raisin. Tangerine is what comes out the most to me.
Taste follows the nose. Caramel gives way to fruit. Nectarine or tangerine? Hmm not sure. Leaves a slight aftertaste of fruit, semi-citrus. I'm gonna go try a Witbier as this one makes me crave the fruit.

An attractive amber color, with clarity a bit cloudy (Mountain Sun clearly doesn't filter - got to respect that). Smallish off-white head with tight bubbles and poor retention.

Aroma has caramel malt sweetness, and a bit of chocolate.

Flavor shows complex malt character - darker malts helping, but nicely balanced with hop bitterness. Finish is neutrally balanced and fairly clean.

Medium body and carbonation. No problems with astringency, but might be better with slightly less carbonation.

A very tasty beer. Nicely balanced with good malt character. Almost on the brown ale end of the Ambers.

A - Amber is its name and amber is its game; thinnish off-white head; obviously high on carbonation

S - Light balance of spicy, tame hops and sweet malt base

T - Very balanced and sessionable; high carbonation; lightly sweet with a nice, subtle hop bouquet to balance; faint spice, almost pumpkin-like; bitter, acidic

M - Dry and generously carbonated; hops just kiss the taste buds with their sting; acidic

D - Not one I, as a hop-head and big beer lover, would reach for again, but a very balanced, drinkable beer for those who like a solid middle-ground; carbonation level was a bit of a turn-off

One of those reviews I’ve been meaning to do for years, but just never got around to doing.
I’ve been drinking this a lot lately, so it seems like a good time to do it.
Arrives a chestnut brown color with slight reddish highlights. A little bit of head on the top does manage to lead to a bit of lacing, too.
The nose and taste more or less mirror one other. Straight ahead bready with toffee notes. The finish has a tiny bit of PNW pine-y hops, but it’s really mild. The malt character is that of something using Vienna and/or Munich malts, but I guess they’re using a whole bunch of different malts in the recipe. I wonder if it was originally inspired by the Irish red style, which often taste similar.
Honestly, it’s really good to just sit back with a malt-dominated ale here and there and this fits the bill.
One of my favorite beer styles is the normal ‘ol dunkel lager, and while this is an ale with a boatload of different malts – the focus seems similar. Easy drinking, malty, more. It won't win any awards for complexity, but who cares, right?
While the Mountain Sun is known for their many hop-forward beers, this is a fine malt-focused beer.

This brew is a clear amber with a light beige head. The nose has some sweet malts, but they are light. The taste has the same mild sweet grains with some faint bitter hops. An average body with good carbonation. A good session brew from Mountain Sun, but definately not one of their better creations.

Presents a one-finger tan head over a cloudy red-rust liquid. Smells sweet caramel malt and a sour light fruity. Tastes caramelly, but also nutty and a sour caramel. Hops come across as woody. Mild hop bitter and flavor. The finish has some chocolate and more of the sour caramel. Aftertaste is memories of sweet but is dry, like putting a very dehydrated peach in the mouth. Md-light body and moderately carbonated.
