Had a couple on tap at the Denver branch of Mountain Sun. By far the most popular beer there from what I could tell, although I was hanging out with a bunch of hikers, and we tend to like our IPAs.

A: Pours a nice hazy, dark copper with a one finger off white head. Poor retention gives way to some thin lacing.

S: Primarily hop oils with lots of citrus notes (grapefruit); floral and pine hints. A nice hop spice blended with a sweet malt lingers in the background. Complex but not very strong.

T: Pretty much exactly like it smells. Starts with citrus, giving way to a blend of hop spice and sweet malt. Minimal alcohol presence and very little lingering bitterness. Very nice.

M: Resinous and malty, with just the right amount of fizz.

O: A very solid IPA and a great go to at Mountain Sun.

Sorry if I am vague on the details but I had this beer a week ago and didn't take notes at the time. I can say this, however -- this is an excellent brew. The hops came through in terms of flavor and smell without overpowering the malt or the taster. I was complimenting the brew (and brewery staff) the entire time I was drinking this. You can't be unhappy after a pint of this stuff.

First stop in boulder was Mtn. Sun, what a great funky and fun place. This flavorful IPA was served in a typical pint glass, hazed darker amber, mellow, slight head and then leave well developed rings of fine lace. Pungent nose of citrus, hop cones and all things tasty. One of those beer you know is top quality and top enjoyment upon the first sip. Bold hops, beefy malt under support and flavor and enjoyment in every wiff and sip. highly recommended

Served on tap at Mountain Sun in a pint glass.

Hazy amber color with a thin layer of creamy white head that settles very slowly.

Aroma is fresh and hoppy with great citrus character.

The flavor is wonderfully hoppy while still remaining nicely balanced. There's almost a honey-like sweetness up front that gives way to a crisp citrus snap of hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium-light in body and perfectly carbonated on tap.

Overall a great west coast style IPA.

On tap at the brewpub in Boulder. I expected an uber- hoppy, particularly with a melange of five hops. What I got ws a nice bitterness, and another IPA overall, with a muddled hop taste. Some hops in aroma. Some citrus and pine resins in taste. Might like better on a better day.

On tap at the Vine Street Pub. Poured a cloudy amber with a tight one finger head that retained and laced well. Grapefruit and orange aromas are very predominate. Flavor is crisper and more piney in nature. Crisp medium bodied feel with an oily finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable beer.

a: served in a standard shaker pint at the brewpub while awaiting some takeout, fyipa is amber in color, sporting a frothy khaki head that shows good retention and some lace

s: the nose opens with deep grapefruit rind and dark pine notes, lots of pine needle and resin, solid malt backbone of pale and caramel, a standard well-rounded nw style ipa

m: carbonation on the higher end of moderate, body around medium

t: typical pale and caramel malt backbone, not particularly sweet, bready pale with an average dose of caramel sugar, well dosed with nw style hops bringing pine and heavy citrus flavors, bitterness high and growing stronger with each sip

o: a nice american ipa that hits all the expected notes, big on the pine hops with the malt presence to back it up

Grabbed this one on tap at the MSPB in Boulder. Really excellent, all around - huge fruit and citrus all over the place. Perfect looking beer, with a nice billowy head and appropriate carbonation. Really, one of the best IPAs I've ever had. Would definitely grab it again (wish they bottled, although couldn't top the beer on tap).
