From notes made on 4-Dec-2011 at the Southern Sun Pub

Nice look with excellent lacing

The cool part is a raisin-y taste that comes out, subtle but real.
I asked the bartender (also one of the brewers, I believe) and he
said that yep, you should be getting some raisin smell/flavor.

Not surprising, there's a big bitterness coming at ya.

Great mouthfeel.

All told, this is definitely something to seek out when you're near
either Southern or Mountain Sun during the winter months.

Review based on notes from Friday 11th visit to Vine Street as well as discussion with one of the brewers from Mountain Sun.

Beer was served in an 8oz milkshake pilsner glass.

A - It's a ruby amber color with a nice finger width of white bubbly head with decent head and retention. Lacing throughout.

S - Super hoppy with hints of fruit, citrus, earthen pine. Cascade hops very noticeable.

T - It tastes just like it's named like a double version of Colorado Kind Ale, which is excellent. Similar to the nose it delivers a strong hop character immediately. The middle brings forth a nice fruity mix of grapefruit, oranges, and yeast. The beer finishes crisp and strong. The beer does a fairly good job of hiding the alcohol so that it isn't overpowering but it's a noticeably strong brew.

M - Low in carbonation and medium bodied.

D - Very drinkable for such a strong beer.

Overall, this was a pleasure to try and was a good brew. According to the brewer: "Superkind is a seasonal ale that is brewed once or twice a year depending on production opportunities. It is basically a stronger version of the kind ale that Mountain Sun feels drinks like an American style Barlywine. It comes in between 9-10% ABV depending on the batch. This year's is right about 10. All that complexity comes from the use of only 2 malts and one hop variety (same as in the Kind Ale.)"

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

On-tap at The Vine Club. Fruity wine opaque colour with a white ring. This is a sipper, very high alcohol and astringent and suitably undercarbonated. Malty fruity aroma, a decent hops and malt integrated. A lace sheet. Tastes like it smells, delivers with apricot, peach, fruity uyeast, tangerine, grapefruit and booze.Above average mouthfeel. Could be Cascadian hop, a little like a black IPA.
