Had this beer on tap in NYC at three different bars/restaurants. Ryan Maguires Ale House, The Heidleberg, and Fraunces Tavern. The beer was consistent (says a lot about these places barmanship/cellarmanship), it also say a lot about Radeberger. Pours a nice light gold, tartness, green apples taste perfectly balanced by bitterness from the hops at the end. Perfect beer on a hot summer day. This is the consummate German Pilsner in my humble opinion.

The Brewery dates to the previous century in Radeberg near Dresden. The communists took over E. Germany but kept the brewery open. In fact, it was the favorite of the Dresden KGB chief Vladimir Putin. Interesting story. Thank goodness this brewery survived long enough to see the fall of the iron curtain. It is thriving now that it is free.

Excellent beer, crisp, sharp, excellent taste, excellent aftertaste, well balanced bitterness, fresh, nicely colored and transparent with 'beer-ish' hue. One of the best beers. Was served in bottle, properly cooled and consumed late night among several others.

a: Chill hazed pale golden; served with a small fizzy.

s: Muddled grains, biscuits, and faint medicinal, leafy hops.

t: Dirty lines or age, this just was not a clean pils. Vaguely sweet, murky tasty, biscuity grains and a kind of medicinal finish.

m: Light with fizzy carbonation.

o: Plenty of better domestic pils to choose from. I need to try a fresh German pils someday.
