BarrelHouse India Pale Ale – Hoppy | Dank | Mango
Like our Pale Ryder, we want you to first inhale close your eyes and dig deep, take in all the dank, herbal, and mango hop goodness. We’ve built this delicious IPA around our favorite hops Simcoe, Cascade, Centennial, and Mosaic. Now open your eyes and take a gulp and let the bitterness, malt character, and aroma play tug-a-war across your palate. We haven’t skimped and believe this is how an IPA should taste. Satisfy your hop addiction with this excellently crafted IPA.

We were down at Pismo and picked up a 6 pack. It's my new favorite IPA. So glad I can get this at Total. The flavors all meld well together. There's a bitterness but it isn't hard and biting, it compliments the tropical flavors. A dlish dry finish. You just can't drink one of these. Very good.

Poured outta a can into a glass shaker.
Color is golden orange. Smell is faint. Citrus flavor and medium/high carbonation. More like a NE style IPA. Mouth feel is thin and a little dry. Overall an easy drinking beer that is well balanced; it's main downside is it's nothing special.
Edit: drank the 6 pack. +1 point to my original review. Its a solid beer that I will buy again. Easy drinking and it doesn't grow old.

May 21st, 2016 - Barrel House Brewing has brought some colorful beers to the festival, with odd flavors, strong flavors and curious flavors. But the IPA is refreshingly straightforward. A nice hop bill, with a good sweetness and a bitterness that leaves a legacy, this is a solid brew.

This IPA is blowing me away, to be honest. It looks so very copper and hazy with a nice white, soft lacing, and it smells of champagne mango, citrus and bread. BUT, it's biggest asset is the taste. It tastes like creamy citrus, guava, mango--so fuckn good. Mouthfeel is well above average. This one is a winner.

Another great beer from Barrelhouse Brewing. Their iteration of IPA is very good. This is more of a west coast style, that I really don't see any haziness with. I had this on tap at the Taproom in Visalia. Enjoyed it so much, I took home a sixer! Very good nose for an IPA...tropical notes from the Mosaic hops. Taste follows somewhat...the only thing that I didn't care for is the extra bitter bite at the end.

And excellent fresh hazy IPA with juicy tropical as well as piney grapefruit hops, nice balancing malt backbone, bright bitter finish but does not linger, medium body and a bit creamy.

L: Slightly hazy golden honey with a small head that left a good amount of spotty lacing.
S: Tropical and stonefruit notes, piney hops, and a little bit of bready malt.
T: Great, full mango and other tropical fruit flavors with danky, piney hops. Unique, very nice.
F: Medium, very solid bitterness, great carbonation, clean finish.
O: Really enjoyed this West Coast IPA, solid and danky but with very bright and expressive fruit notes. I've really liked all the Barrelhouse brews I've tried so far and will continue to pick 'em up.

L: A quite-hazy golden-orange, with average level of off-white head, slightly-above-average lacing, with minimal rising carbonation bubbles visible.
S: Incredibly strong tropical fruit flavors, most notably papaya and mango. A deeper sniff reveals subtle pine and resinous hop aromas.
T: very dank resinous hops dominate. the tropical fruit is still present but is far more subdued than in the smell. moderately sweet.
F: medium-full body. average amount of quite-above-average intensity carbonation creating a very crisp bite, but with some minor stickiness in the back half of the sip and aftertaste

I haven't had this beer since the recipe was tweaked, and my god how good it is! Unfiltered, it still pours a clear gold to light amber with a nice foamy white head that stays at the surface and laces well. Smell is intense of mango, pine, and simple crackery malt. Taste follows, and the amount of mango extracted from the hops would lead you to believe real mangos were used. Nice medium carbonation, dry but not too dry of a finish, and good piney bitterness make this an exceptionally delicious and drinkable IPA overall. Cheers!

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish tulip Thanks to DEK196 for including this in a trade!
L: Clear medium golden pour. 2-3 fingers of foamy white head. Tons of sticky lacing.
S: Pine and citrus... lots of hops going on here.
T/F: Rich malts and grains to start set the stage for a great West Coast hopshot. Lots of resiny pine, but also grapefruit and citrus. A bit of pineapple and pepper. Medium body and great carbonation. Resinous and sticky. A bit of pine in the aftertaste.
O: A great west coast IPA, and one I wish I could pick up around town. Great flavor and hop profile. It has some oomph but is very drinkable. Really super beer.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours golden yellow amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of thick lacing.
S: Zesty citrus jumps out at you, followed by tropical fruit, some dank herbal notes, pine, biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Big tropical fruit and citrus, passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lemon, grapefruit, dank herbal notes, pine, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, quite smooth and dangerously drinkable.
O: I last had this beer a few years ago before I joined BA. I didn't remember a ton of specifics about it, but remembered that I couldn't stop smelling my glass. I gotta say, the aroma is still fantastic and the taste backs it up. Really nice IPA. One of my go-to's.

Excellent. Cut to the chase, there is no strange after taste. It is not the same ol' SD clean IPA with danky hops. It is smooth and delicious.
It has something that no other IPA I have ever tried has - a buttery finish.... I have drank it for at least the last couple of years since the brewery is near by but I have now realized it may be the best on the central coast.

Palate Contaminants: none
Appearance is a slightly opaque gold. The head doesn't stick around, but the lacing is nice.
Smell is more like a New England IPA. There's peach, pear, and a little white grapefruit, but it's only slightly sweet.
Overall taste is somewhere between the New England and West Coast styles. The peach flavor is less, and the grapefruit strengthens. Other stone fruit (I'll go with mostly apricot) are there, too. I get a little pepper, and it's also firing off the salty sense taste buds. And there's some peat in there, as well.
Feel is moderate to thin, but the taste remains solid.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a slightly hazed, honey-gold coloring, with a slow roll of carbonation bubbling feeding a low profile, clingy, white head. Aromas of rich mango sweetness, dried grass, herbal spice, tart grapefruit, and rich tropical fruits. Flavors are spiced and sticky forward, peppery notes blending with dank pine pitch and resinous characteristics. Solid blend of tropical fruits follow, heavy on the mango, pineapple, and grapefruit. Solid candy sweet backbone to support all of the dank, bitter, and fruity characteristics. The body is bold and slick, with a bitter, dry edge. Solid fruit salad and wet grass aftertaste, lingering on a little bit before the dry, bitter finish and slight acidity clean the palate up. Good beer. Solid IPA.
