Very Good
BarrelHouse StoutBarrelHouse Stout
Notes: Since the first batch our people can’t get enough of this creamy and slightly hoppy BarrelHouse Stout. It’s crafted with oats for creaminess, lactose for sweetness, belgian dark syrups for intense dark fruit notes, dark malts for chocolate and roast, and just enough hops for a balanced bitter/sweet finish.

Appearance: Totally black with a very nice rolling and billowing tan head. Retention is quite good as is lacing.

Nose: Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, toffee.

Taste: More chocolate, toffee and coffee with some vanilla sweetness and a bit of hops.

Notes: This is quite a good stout. I think breweries need to be very , very good to even compete. This stout didn't grab me by the collar and scream in my face, but it did get my attention. In today's market, I'd say thats quite an achievement.

21 Junio 2020. De Beer Repúblic. En vaso de pinta inglesa de Ikea. Jugando a The Last of Us. Con queso boffard. Oatmeal stout correcta y agradable pero sin nada especialmente destacable, si acaso un ligero toque lactico. Al menos consigo chapa nueva sin sufrimiento

Bottle from Beer Craft in Rohnert Park, CA

Nice and dark, thick, thick mocha head. Lightly sweet, barely any hops flavor. Minimal to no after taste. Very drinkable. Recommended

A - Black with a thin layer of light brown head.

S - Roast and a big sweetness. Chocolate, dark caramel, molasses.

T - Big sweetness. Roast, chocolate, molasses and dark caramel. A touch too sweet to my palate but a nice overall flavour profile.

M - Medium body. Creamy. Light carbonation.

On tap at Malibu Sundowner Tasting Room in Westlake Village, CA.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight lactose aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and dark fruit flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice bittersweet flavor going on.

On tap at the brewery – Paso Robles, CA
4oz taster – 08/18/2014

A: Black Onyx color body right down to the pearly reflective sheen. Half finger of sandstone cream settles out to a ring around the glasses edge. Some random beads of lace stay clinging on to the glass.

S: A deep roasted barley and cereal mix instills freshly brewed coffee with chocolate crème, dark berries, and brown sugars. Really nice with the highly kilned malt showcasing a fresh Espresso roast character in the nose. Hints of earthy greens and a dash of licorice spice. Loving this one already.

T: A clean roast flavor profile of blackened barley, toasted oats, and high end coffee-espresso that is rich with bittersweet chocolates. Brown sugar and dark fruits develop mid way along with a nice earthy hop presence to help cut back the sweet. This is super creamy and well balanced with the alcohol completely masked. Finishes out a touch on the sweeter side with a faint spice component. Pretty solid stuff.

M: Moderate to heavier filling with a sleek coating on the palate. Not too filling however with a frothy carbonation and touch of bitter dryness in the finish. Some sticky residual sugars linger on.

D: This is a superb house stout. It’s rich and roasty with a creamy texture and good balance to it overall. Very approachable while delivering some great depth of flavors. Possibly their best offering. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of khaki tan head when I got it. Good amount of layered spotty lacing along the sides of the glass. Average retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled roasty malts, nuts, right chocolate, slight crayon, toffee, caramel and cocoa nibs. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted chocolate, roasty malts, crayon, caramel, toffee, roasted nuts and dark cocoa. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 3.50)

An above average stout, but nothing special. (Overall - 3.50)

Smells nicely of chocolate, vanilla, malt, and oatmeal. Taste is similar. Taste and smell are excellent.

More carbonated than i prefer in an oatmeal stout, which inhibited the smoothness.
