The label notes this is named for the national forest, which of course bears the name of the first Chief of the U.S. Forest Service. From the 12 oz can purchased at Haggen Market in Burlington. Pours a slightly hazy amber with an abundant white foam in the snifter.

There's a faint malty sweetness. The first taste is surprising. As in "what were they thinking?" Muddy, bitter, stemmy. Something like vegetable peelings. I wouldn't call it crisp-- it's more of a dishwatery flat finish with that unpleasant astringency in the back of the throat. This is very odd stuff. I have rarely disliked a Pilsner style brew more.

Pours a slightly cloudy dim amber with a solid white head with some retention. Aroma is indistinct, faintly herbal. Taste is .... A bit off the mark for a pilsner, especially one that calls itself a Czech style pilsner lager. Mouthfeel is heavier than I'd like to have and there's no clean finish. It's an ok beer to have when your more after cold beer than anything else, but I suggest a couple of tickets back to the Czech Republic may be needed to refine things a bit.

From a can: opens like champagne and overflows. Settles into a nice head with excellent retention. Amber color and slightly hazy- different for a pilsner. Grassy and herbal and crisp and plenty of pilsner style hops; taste wise it seems spot on.

By far the best Czech Pilsner I've run across. What it lacks in head appearance, it most certainly makes for in delicious flavor, and smooth drinkability.

This beer pours amber and clear. It beer tastes metallic and herbal, with hints of slightly excessive dms. It’s cloyingly sweet and chewy for a Pilsner, though balanced by being bitter enough to handle it. I’ll probably not get this one again.
The white head was pleasant yet thin.
