22 ounce bottle poured into a snifter

Pours pitch black, no light comes through when held up, head is mocha colored and quickly dissipated into a mocha colored soapy film, very little carbonation, looks like motor oil, perhaps one of the thickest looking beers I've ever seen.
Lots of aroma, bourbon, vanilla, toasted coconut, burnt brown sugar, oak, and a touch of rye, alcohol does come through strong, smells promising.
Impressed, big hit of bourbon notes up front with vanilla, toasted coconut, brown sugar, oak, and a touch of rye, lots of sweet notes, mild espresso-like bitterness, finish has bourbon notes along with espresso, dark chocolate, and char, alcohol does linger in the aftertaste and leaves a warming feeling in my belly, it's almost like a shot of bourbon with chocolate and espresso mixed in, very tasty.
Full bodied, very little carbonation, mouthfeel is thick and oily, leaves a sticky feeling on the palate.

Overall, this is a big beer, big aromas, big flavors, and a big mouthfeel, warms the belly and is tasting excellent on this cold southern CA winter day. Definitely going to pick up another bottle to cellar. If you like bourbon barrel aged stouts, then pick this up, you won't be disappointment.

The pour is thick, black and not much of anything has far as a head or lacing goes. Oily and vicious with the oak, bourbon, vanilla and cocoa on the nose. Taste is of bourbon, chocolate, wood and some sweetness. Smooth, full feel and a warming touch from the booze. In conclusion: I'm blown away... I had no expectations but after the first sip I knew this was going to be phenomenal!! First Ritual brew for me and it is memorable.
