Named after a local street which gained fame as a location in the Henry Huggins and Ramona Quimby books for children written by Beverly Cleary.
"With an appealing amber color, this brew has a perfect balance of caramel malt and spicy hop flavors. The Munich malt in this recipe lends a rich mouth feel, while generous additions of Pacific-Northwest hops complete the balance. Try a pint of Pale with the Salmon Gyros, Falafel or Alameda Dip."

Wow. This was a surprise in a less than favorable way. However it was a hugely entertaining read as the reviews below are more inconsistent and conflicting than any beer I've studied on this website. I struggled to place the smell and taste I was beat in the face with. Subtle like some have said? I think not. On the edge of an amber I agree with, dominated by malt I agree with - biscuity. Caramel malt, that bitter from squeezing an orange rind. Pine? No. Destroying the back of my tongue with bitterness? Yes. If malt grew mushrooms and was dunked in some bready red ale with unspeakable bitters. I would give you the Klickitat replica! Want an extreme? Try this on the palate, and review it better than I have so I can understand it.

Not a very pretty beer for a pale, but it's malt bill would imply an orangish body, so mission accomplished. A burnt orange actually, clean but definitely not clear. A thin khaki head leaves little behind along with minimal lacing.
Aromas of sweet and toasty bread, caramel, and a sharp floral and grapefruit hop sting.
This is very toasty tasting as well. Plenty of citrus flavors in behind the caramel sweetened rolls.
Medium bodied, higher carbonation, sweet at first with a good bitter bite at the end.
This straddles the line between a pale and an amber to me. More of a hopped up amber, I'd call it. Cheers.

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Dark amber, wispy head fades away. Aroma is caramel malts. At first I thought they mistook this for their Vienna, but other reviews back thus up. Taste too is malty, dry, latent bitterness. Not your standard APA, close to an amber ale.

Pours orange amber in color, with a decent two finger head. Retention is quite good and there is some nice lacing.
Smell is led by the malts. I get some nice caramel malts in there, then the hops pop in for a visit. Resiny and piney is what I pick up, but the malts are the star here.
Taste on the other hand,is led by the hops. Those piney and resiny hops are joined by a bit of pith too. Then the malts come in behind. Caramel and then a bit of a spice to it too for good measure.
The feel is medium body with fairly active carbonation. There is a touch of stickiness to the finish and the bitterness of the hops stay with you.
Not a bad APA, I'm surprised at the malt aroma and then the flip to a hops forward beer, but it was still nice. I'm not sure I'd have another, but if it were offered I wouldn't say no.

Pours a dark orange with thick, off white head.
Smell is citrusy with hints of rye, raisins and a bit of resin.
Taste is floral , with more rye and less citrus than the nose. Nice lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a good old school pale ale, robust and tasty.

Poured 12 oz can into standard pint glass. The color was dark amber, more like a red ale. It was clear, with a nice, creamy, white head. The aroma was mild malt and faint orange. The flavor is nice, caramel malt, bitter hops aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, on the watery side a bit though. Overall a good beer.

Poured from can. More orange than gold, small head, and just a little lacing. Nose is malty...almost more like a marzen than an APA...odd. Also some dough and light citrus. Flavor is malty/biscuity with an astringent bitterness on the back of the tongue on the finish. Carbonation/mouthfeel is about right. To be honest, his beer didn't do anything for me.

Pours a finger of head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma is caramel, then barnyard and lemon.
The taste is caramel sweetness, spice and lemon bitterness, a touch grassy.
The texture is crisp.
It has a strong spice and grass flavor, which could be off-putting.

Thick rich amber with a hint of orange to it. Half finger of large bubbles coalesce to cap it all off. Sticky lacing.
Sweet and creamy nose with some bright fruits... more orchard than tropical though. Fresh crisp apples and some grassy and almost faint woodiness. Again way creamy.
I wish the flavour had carried more of the creamy brightness of the aroma and less of the high pitched tart bitterness. Blunt pine and a hint of granny smith green. I found the nose really compelling and had hoped that it would offer some more of that rich creamy body that can work so well in APAs. Might be a tad committed to the bitter finish for it to be truly refreshing and light, but better than I expected based on the ratings here.
