The appearance has a hazy golden orange somewhat brown body with a half finger’s worth of foamy head that concaves a bit into the body. The smell has a malty sweet yet light citrus trying to burst through. It stays a bit backward throughout the beer for the most part. The taste is mainly sweet with a stronger breadier note to the flavoring and more of a grapefruit/lemon-ness comes out as it warms. There is a strong grapefruit aftertaste with a quick citrus somewhat dry finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body, comes across fairly sessionable. Carbonation seems to be good for the style and good for me. Overall, this is a good DIPA that I would have again, nothing to scream about, but definitely worth having again.

22oz bottle served in a large snifter. Given to me by @mr-jj. I don't see a date on it.

Pours clear golden with a small head. Very little carbonation. Smell is different. I can't place it. Smells really familiar.

Taste is similar to the smell. Very bitter. I find this unpleasant.

Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Overall...I'm not going to drink this beer.

I've had this on many occasions but forgot to review. Having now at the Portland Winterhawks playoff game at the old Memorial Coliseum where micro brew stands are in abundance everywhere. This is a nice double IPA and a good flagship for Alameda who puts out great beers. Not too much bite or bitterness and goes down pretty smooth from the tap here in the arena. I could easily stock this in the fridge. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste a variety of hops, citrus and malt. Will definitey get again. Go Hawks!

a hazy orange color with an off-white cup. aroma is mediocre. I sniff smelling earthy hops. Malts are more pronounced than I would expect with lots of bread and biscuit. The aroma is of grass

fairly sharp Hop flavors mainly grassy and slightly citrus and orange pith, but this beer is far from a juicy. Malt taste slightly sweeter than smoke suggestions toffee, beside the biscuit.

a full sustained carbonic acid.
This beer is pretty average

Had a pint on tap, golden amber in color, creamy, off white head with substantial retention and lacing. Aroma is faint, mostly malt and some herbal notes. Not much happening there. Flavor is pine and grapefruit. Some bread malt and earthy qualities as well. Faint alcohol essence. Dry finish and bitter hops aftertaste that lingers for some time. A decent beer overall

From a 650 ml bottle (no date) to a tulip. Reviewed from notes dated April 9, 2016.

A-The beer pours a hazy orange color with an off-white head. The head is tall, about two fat fingers, and rocky. Retention is OK, and the beer leaves some fine lacing on the glass as I drink it down.

S-The aroma is mediocre. I sniff skunky, earthy hops. It reminds me of a Euro pale lager. Malts are more pronounced than I would expect with lots of bread and biscuit. The aroma is grassy and vague; ho-hum not awful. I wonder how old this bottle is?

T-The tastes is quite bitter, like you expect from a West Coast style IPA. Hop flavors are less skunky, but still sharp and grassy for the most part. I taste a little citrus and orange pith, but this beer is far from a juicy. Malts taste a bit sweeter than they smelled with suggestions of toffee, in addition to the biscuit.

M-The beer drinks easily with a medium heft and a fine, persistent carbonation.

O-This beer is pretty average. It has a nice feel, but I wonder if I was tasting an old bottle because the smell was a bit lackluster and the hops seem to have faded. The taste wasn't as washed out as the aroma, but this was merely average and I don't know that I need to drink a lot more of this.

Bottle from Fred Meyer's. Decent all around double, but rather pedestrian. No sign of the high ABV though, which is nice. Lingering pine/citrus hop finish

Beautiful hazy and distinctively orange. The head is the thickest I've ever seen with a strong, stacked lace and piling carbonation that wants to escape the glass. Even leaves a foamy structure like a bubble bath. Lots of fun. It smells nutty and with a nice balancing lemon aroma. The taste follows suit with plenty of Imperial kick, but surprisingly easy drinking. It's a nice mix of East and West coast IPAs. I'm curious what hops were chosen, separates itself from other IPAs. Mouth feel is pleasant, thick, and not overly fizzy (surprising after the way the head played in the glass. This is a great beer. Drink one today.

Can. Poured an orange color. Smell is definitely very hoppy. Citrus, melon and the like. Some candied hops and sweetness as well. The flavor is a combination of sweet and fruity hops. Tastes of melon and grapefruit hop and dried barley. Finishes sweeter than I'd want. Pretty decent beer!
