My wife brought this back from a recent trip to Oregon - thank you! This beer takes band-brewery collaborations to a whole new level, with the bottle including a download code for an mp3 album (hidden beneath the wax on the cap). So, of course, I have to download the album to listen while I'm reviewing.

Pours a very cloudy deep muddy brown, with red highlights at the edges. A huge, eruptive head that almost crests my glass, light tan in color. Super dense head, awesome retention, and it relaxes into a really weird shape, like an inside-out donut. There's a big island of foam in the center, surrounded by a thinner layer, then a thick layer of lacing reaching up the edges of the glass. Crazy.

Smell is light and crisp. Green apples, fresh-cut hay. Clean and fresh, but not a whole lot to it.

Taste is interesting. Starts out with bready malts, then a brisk grassy hop zap that carries some mild bitterness with it. It's well-balanced, without any flavors that knock me over, but just well put together. Finishes gently bitter, gradually fading away.

Mouthfeel is fine. Medium-bodied, with enough carbonation (though I think some of it was lost in the explosion of foam on the pour).

A nice, well-balanced extra-ESB. Good balance, with enough interesting flavors to keep me coming back for more. And I'm getting along with the music that comes with it. Kind of garage rock-out music with an emo twist. Seems like it might go better with a different style. Hmmm... maybe an IPA?

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a medium copper-gold color with about 3/4 inch of light khaki colored head that had OK retention and light lacing.

The aroma was mostly nice earthy grains and malt with just enough hopping to provide some contrast and balance. The flavor profile followed along pretty closely, good malts, balancing hops and just enough of a hop tang on the finish to be interesting.

The body was very good, full and smooth without being heavy or sticky. Drinkability was very nice as well, my pint went down smooth, quick and easy. Overall, probably my favorite beer I've had from this brewery so far. Certainly worth trying if you see it, and perhaps worth a bit of effort to seek out.
