The appearance has a dark red colored body with a one fingered white foamy head that dies within about a minute to a slightly foamy cap coating the top of the body. Lacing is sticky against the sides of the glass. The smell has a rich caramel maltiness with a slim roasty nuttiness pervading my nose. The taste mainly sweet through the caramel malts and nuts, however, a decent bittering effect starts to come across in the flavoring as it warms. There is a malty nutty aftertaste with a dry bitter malty finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body with a decent sessionability aspect to it. Carbonation comes across really smooth for the style and is pretty good to me. Overall, this is a pretty good American Amber/Red Ale that I would have again.

Had a pint of this at the ale house on Fremont. It was on nitro, so I'm assuming it was a bit smoother, and had a creamier head. Slightly hazy, copperish red color. The aroma is herbal and earthy, along with some bread malt. The flavor is grass, herbs, and some light malt. Hints of pine and grapefruit in the finish. Bitter aftertaste. An ok beer, but not one I would drink regularly.

Appearance - Pours a copper brown colour with three fingers of foamy tan head.
Smell - bready malts, caramel notes, spicy aromas, apple, hint of piney hops, orange.
Taste - Bready malts followed by the caramel malts. The apple notes come through followed by spicy aromas, orange and the hint of piney and citrus hops.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a slight metallic taste.
Overall - An average red ale (if this is what its trying to be). This needs to go back to the drawing board and some elements are not given their justice.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy, dark red color with one finger of white foamy head. There's some bubbles here and there in the head that was fun watching pop inside the head (eh, nice entertainment). Lacing was few and far between.
The smell has some cooked apples, light caramel malt, toffee, and light biscuity to breadiness.
The taste was sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and brings in a light nuttiness to round things out.
The mouthfeel has about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Nuttiness really hits the tongue in a smooth sort of creamy fashion.
Overall, its a decent Amber ale, I see nothing wrong with it, but then again, I don't see anything really over the top either.

22oz bottle, nice ode to their native burg.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, dark red-brick amber colour, with one meager finger of weakly foamy, and mostly just bubbly beige head, which leaves some swollen rain cloud ceiling lace around the glass as it rather slowly abates.
It smells of somewhat tart generic apples, biscuity caramel malt, a touch of nougaty toffee, soft neutered citrus rind, an edgy pine needle acridity, and minor hints of cold, steely alcohol. The taste is bready, doughy, and certainly sweet caramel malt, meekly edgy pine resin, overripe orange and red Texas grapefruit, bittersweet treacle, a suggestion of unfinished yeast, and a kind of knockin' on yer backdoor booziness.
The carbonation is pretty low-key in its hit and miss frothy support, the body a so-so medium weight, and sort of clammy and pithy in its attempt at smoothness. It finishes off-dry, of course, but with a growing metallic flintiness that has me entertaining thoughts of scraping my tongue.
Yeah, something just ain't right with this one here, and it can't be the malt - there's oodles of that. The hops may leave a lot to be desired, for a left coast brewery, what with their limping, old feeling, but it's not them. So it must be the yeast, and the not quite close to integrated 'elevated' ABV. A boring, by the book assessment, I know, but I can only work with what I got.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy dark red colored body.
The aroma is rich malt, a little lemon, caramel and flowers.
The taste is mild lemon bitterness at first that is quickly balanced out by the big malt bill. Kind of barnyardish overall.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
It's a good, bold red ale.

weird, beer was bottled almost 11 months ago yet almost no reviews. This is a very well preserved beer for the age as it shows a strong malt backbone and a rounded flavour. Yes the hops have moved to background but still a very nice beer as red/amber beers often work as malt showcases. Loved to have tasted it fresh but still a nice beer/

Alameda Brewing 'Rose City Red' Ale @ 6.4% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $7
A-pour is a clear pale amber from the bottle to a dark amber in the glass with a good size off white head that is leaving a spotty lace along the stein
S-big bold malt's , piney hops
T-not smooth , kinda bitter from start to finish
MF-good carbonation , medium bodied
Ov-ok beer , just a tad to bitter for me

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours a brownish amber with a beige head. The nose offers a lot of sweet honey and caramel malt notes with just a hint of citrusy hops in the background. The taste is earthy, chocolatey and roasty with a dry and bitter finish. It's medium bodied and hearty.
