Imperial Session, Pale-Black-Indian Pale Ale aka a West-Coast Style IPA. It uses 5.5lbs. of hops per barrel, the most hops we’ve used in any of our beers. Using primarily Pilsner malt, the straw color and light malt flavor, take a distant backseat, allowing the hops to shine. This batch has Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops.

First on draft and then from a 32 oz crowler (my first crowler btw) filled at DeCicco's in Armonk, NY

Great looking brew, hazed dull golden amber, with loads of fine lace left on the glass.

Citric nose with oranges and some yeasty/wheaty malts coming to mind.

More citrus on the palate, more orange and some lite grape fruit coming forward. Densely flavorful and delicate at the same time. Tasty stuff, quite worth seeking this one out and enjoying a pint or two...

L; A yellow with some orange tinge to it. Cloudy. Poured with two fingers head, which slowly dissipated. Lacing all the way down the glass.

S: Hoppy. Lemon, some grapefruit.

T: Not much pineyness. Lemony, but not sour. Some grapefruit, a little pineapple.

F: Lightly carbonated. Medium to light body.

O: I had been waiting to get some of this for a while. It finally made it to the weekend at Grand Cru in Rhinebeck.

Poured from 16 oz can dated 1/31/2017 and the notation - Citra/Galaxy. Thanks to @cavedave for the chance to try this one.

A: Hazy pale yellow with 2 finger soapy white head. Lasting retention and leaving some chunky lacing.

S: Mango, peaches, apricots, and pineapple. Aroma is a little subtle, but very nice.

T: Citrus and tropical fruits with mango, apricot, passionfruit giving way to bitter hop notes and some pale malts hanging around in the background.

M: Medium body with fairly light carbonation and a soft creamy feel.

O: Excellent IPA with some unique can art that I can relate to. If this was a local brewery to me, this would be a regular purchase.

A tall boy with a canning date of 3/9/16 from the NBS/BIF #3 complements of cavedave. Serving this interesting sounding beer in my Weyerbacher tulip glass for science.

Look- Pours a deep gold leaving a small finger of white foam. Tiny carbonation bubbles float to the top.

Smell- Passionfruit forward with mango and some butyl. Tropical and dank all at once!

Taste- Passionfruit dominates once again, followed by pineapple, grapefruit, and fresh rubber. There is some cereal-like malt flavor in the back along with a hint of alcohol.

Feel- It begins slick and resinous with a complementary malt backbone. A bit dry in the finish.

Overall- When I saw Imperial-Session, Pale-Black IPA on the label, I had no idea what to expect? Dark? Light? It's dark gold with a hint of shadowy black in the depths of the glass. The aroma and flavor of this beer really popped as it warmed to around 50 degrees. A heavyweight 'session' beer that delivers! I'm stoked that Dave was kind enough to include two as I'm a fan of this beer.

Poured into a Dogfish traditional oversized snifter. Bottom of can says 3/9/16.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains very well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Big orangey hop nose makes me feel like I'm smelling Hi-C. If you told me there was fruit added to this beer, I'd believe you.

T- Taste follows the nose with lots of bright citrus from the hops and not much malt backing. Insanely drinkable for the ABV. The bitterness is moderate while the hop flavor is high.

M- Tangy with medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- While I wish this beer had a bit more body to it, it definitely delivers a juicy hop punch that's very pleasing.

Can, 2016, pours a golden orange color with a thick white foamy head. The beer is slightly hazy with some carbonation, and some soapy lacing. The odor for me is bread like, herbal, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, tropical fruit, mango, slight honey, floral. The taste for me is honey, floral, cracker, lemon, slight resin, slight pine, bread like, light bitterness.
