Notes / Commercial Description:
Zingerbier is our take on a German-style Berliner Weisse. Traditionally brewed for the warmer months, Berliner Weisses are naturally soured to create a highly drinkable, refreshing beer. The quenching tartness of this beer is not dissimilar to that of a lemon, so we thought "what could we add to make this beer even more refreshing?" Ginger! Lemon/lime and ginger are a classic pairing in the culinary and beverage world for their ability to add subtle flavors that are as complex as they are refreshing.

Served on draft into a 13 oz (384 ml) stemmed tulip at Alamo Draft House in Yonkers, NY.
A: Pours a slight hazy, golden color with a quarter inch head, low retention, and minimal lacing.
S: Aromas of lemon and ginger predominate.
T: Tart with citrus flavor drowned out by a ginger zest. Bitterness light and in decent balance with other flavors.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Refreshing finish.
O: A interesting iteration of the Berliner Weiss style. Tastes somewhat a blend between that and ginger beer.

16oz can. Pours a translucent light yellow with an inch of head that disappears quickly. Tart aroma. Lemon, wheat, ginger and lime. It actually tastes a lot like ginger ale with lemon and lime in it. Some of the wheat flavor comes out more at the end along with more lemon and ginger. Sour and refreshing. Light mouthfeel. This one works very well. Perfect for summer. Worth seeking out.

Can dated 6/26/2017. Poured into Rushing Duck Belgian glass. It pours a golden-straw color with virtually no head or lacing. It has a decidedly sour smell with lemon, lime, and a smell I assume is ginger. The taste is quite sour with a lot of lime, but the ginger adds a certain sweetness. It is crisp, dry, and refreshing, with lively carbonation, and the 4.6% ABV poses no impediment to drinkability. Overall, while this is not my favorite style, I like the lime presence and the ginger adds some additional character. Rushing Duck proves again that it can succeed at any style of beer.

L - Yellowish Bud Light Color. Minimal head.
S - Different. Smells like ginger.
T - Sour ginger ale.
F - Not the easiest to drink.
O - Tastes more like a novelty beer. Expect what you buy here.

Average Joe Approved.

Few brewery's in the NJ area make a decent Weiss brew so I'm very happy to have this one within a short drive. Tasty and uber easy to drink. I could def crush quite a few of these esp on a warm day.

Pale light yellow of white wine with an effervescent rush on the pour that settles in to absolutely calm waters. Not a single suggestion of head, like a seltzer water.

Nose is initially kind of earthy and damp, with a definite hint of ginger. Not the tangy spicy fresh ginger though, more of a blunted approximation. There's something mildly acidic to it as well, but more like spoiled milk than the funk I was expecting.
I realize I'm probably painting a pretty unflattering picture but it's not as bad as I'm describing. In fact it's not 'bad' per se at all, just these are the notes I am noting as best as I can describe them.

Flavour comes across with a nice stunted funk hauling an undenable load of ginger. Still not as bitingly sharp as I had hoped on the ginger front, but it is undeniable, meshing well with the tart finish that the berliner offers.
Dry finish and quite drinkable, this is certainly a unique one. I'm glad @TongoRad sent it along so I could try it. Thanks Michael!

The beer pours a light straw color and is suitably hazy for the style but not cloudy. There is a bit of fizzy foam similar to soda that vanishes leaving no trace. The beer appears almost lacking carbonation, which it should.

It smells oddly sweet to me and not very strong. It is almost like a ginger candy with a little bit of sourness. There just isn't a lot happening in the aroma department to me.

Taste really wakes things up. There is ample ginger root, earthiness, mildly sour, and a little sweetness all playing harmoniously. The ginger brings with it that earthiness that almost tastes like dirt I find with fresh ginger root... Bright, lemony tartness with a hint of lime, yet it carries a sweetness on the finish. This is a very pleasant drinking beer and would be perfect for knocking back a few during the summer. No bitterness to speak of, and very crisp.

It is quite tingly despite the lack of visible carbonation, and I would not call it overly dry, but it is a nice refresher. Light body, leaning towards the medium.

This beer is pleasantly sour (not a tooth-cleaner) nicely loaded with real ginger, lemon fresh, and still mulling over the slight sweetness on the end. Enjoyable, "happy" brew that is recommended for people seeking the style.

Cloudy light yellow with minuscule bubbles of carbonation fluttering at the top. The head does not extend beyond a thin ring of white, but this is expected of the style. Both the taste and the aroma are just what one would hope for upon purchasing, apart for a bit too much funk on the nose; tart citrus (lemon and lime), almost perfectly balanced with zingy ginger feels so effortless, it's almost boring. There's no doubt, however, that this recipe was, in fact, finely tuned. The ginger adds a warm, yet gentle sting to the medium-light-bodied mouthfeel, with medium carbonation playing up the zesty flavors without making them seem too sharp. Not super, super sour, this is a fun take on a Berliner Weisse a beer enthusiast could feel confident in introducing to a non-aficionado friend.

a delicious twist on a classic berliner style, the addition of ginger really makes this special. definitely my favorite beer i have had from these guys so far. a really solid base berliner to start, lemony pucker from the lacto is high, this beer is quite sour as they go, but its clean and bright, none of the sweaty feet thing in the finish at all, and really awesome carbonation. it doesnt need ginger to be an excellent beer, but the ginger elevates it pretty substantial. not at all subtle, its almost hot on the nose, but somewhat more balanced in the flavor, although its rather intense still and really spicy and fresh. its great with the sourness, acid and spice, a cool food beer for sure, really easy drinking for how flavorful it is, and pretty much perfect for the summer. i have seen a lot of fruited versions of berliner, but none other than this one with ginger, and it makes perfect sense, really the flavors marry beautifully. a pleasant surprise from a brewery i really would like to explore a little bit more. this is magic.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down, leaving lots of specks of bubbles on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of ginger are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of ginger and has some sourness.
M: It feels light-bodied and quite tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and refreshing. The best way I could describe it is like drinking a sour ginger ale that doesn't have any sugary sweetness.

Pours a murky pale yellow color.
Tons of ginger, lightly sour citrus wheat and lemongrass.
Overall decent but heavy on the ginger. Not my favorite but not bad.

L - the color coming out of the can is practically clear! Maybe a hint of greenish yellow. In the glass it's has a bit more yellow body. Little on the opaque side. Head's gone in an instant. Bam sha-pow.

S - strong aromas of lime, salt, coriander, and of course ginger. Well done and very natural.

T - interesting battle between gose and ginger. At first, I'm getting a traditional German gose, but then the ginger butts in and tries to take over, constantly shifting between the two. Lemon lime and a yeasty tartness.

F - commanding for so little ABV. Doesn't feel thin or watery at all. Rich and delivers the flavors it promises beautifully.

O - I don't really see how ginger is "refreshing" since it's more spicy and bold, but the beer is good. No denying that. Light and heavy flavors clash with a rich mouthfeel resulting in a both drinkable and flavorful brew.
