Very Good
Notes: Collaboration beer with The Hop, Beacon,NY.

The crew at The Hop spent the day helping us brew and then toasted 50lbs of coconut to create a milk brown Ale with cocoa and coconut to mimic the flavors found in the famous Samoa girl scout cookie.

Had a sample at Empire Brewfest at Landmark theatre. After have a room temp sample of cuvée de OC I was willing to try whatever else they were pouring. The inspiration for this beer was the Samoa Girl Scout cookie, Nd I consider it a success. Coconut, hint of caramel, solid malt base. This is an excellently crafted adjunct beer. Enough of each flavor and not too much of any.

Cheers!

On tap at the Hop. Pours clear deep brown with virtually no head. Sweet coconut nose. Taste of coconut and traces of chocolate. Fullbodied. Really excellent.

On tap at Albany Ale and Oyster in Albany, NY.

This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This one smells like creamy and sweet coconut, with milk chocolate candy, caramel, and vanilla.

This is quite sweet, but still very, very tasty, with a good amount of sweet creamy coconut, almost like coconut mixed with coffee creamier. The base brown ale is slightly subsumed by the coconut and chocolate, but I do still get a bit of sweet breadiness and a touch of caramel. This does a fairly good job of emulating a Samoa girl scout cookie.

This is medium bodied, and pretty creamy, with a pretty good level of carbonation.

I love anything with coconut, so this worked pretty well for me.

L: A dark brown. Poured with a little less than a finger of head. It dissipated slowly and lingered at the top. Left patchy lacing.

S: Some nuts, didn't pick up any coconut.

T: Fulled the nose. Very rich, nutty flavor. Delicious. Again not much coconut.

F: Medium bodied. Creamy and went down smooth.

O: I didn't think it tasted like a girl scout samoan cookie. It tasted far better. A rich, nutty brown ale. Absolutely delicious. I hope they keep making it.

S: Lightly toasted coconut, cocoa powder. Flaky biscuit.

M: Well attenuated. Lighter feel with a med light body. Big cream component.

T: Well rounded in flavor. Hints of caramel, palm oil, marshmallow and milky chocolate. Flakes of coconuts on back

I had this on draught at the brewery. 12 oz. pour served in a tulip glass. It pours a mahogany color with cola hues and a foamy, mocha-colored head that dissipated quickly leaving soapy lacing on the glass. The nose was rather subdued and featured roasted malt and cocoa. The taste opened with mildly burnt coffee and roasted malt with lots of chocolate and some nuts. I only noticed faint coconut at the finish. This ale is medium-bodied with light carbonation, and it drinks very light at 5.6% ABV. It's easy to have a second pour. Overall, this is a solid Brown Ale. I didn't taste much coconut but that's probably okay. Overall, while I'm a huge fan of Rushing Duck, I'm not sure that this offering lived up to its billing.

Excited to try my first Rushing Duck.
Crowler from Oliver's, Albany, NY.
This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a sturdy dark brown color with a small cap of a little off white foamy head. Gently dissipated to leave a wisp of concave lace sliding with the sips.
The aroma was absolutely phenomenal! Such an absolutely magical blend of cocoa powder to coconut while delving into a light cookie/baked bready/dark cracker sweetness and dropping a little bit of of vanilla at the end.
The flavor might lean towards the sweet side but it's a powdery sweetness with a touch of dry maltiness to boot. Mild aftertaste of sweet malts, somewhat like a Samoa cookie - the coconut, milk chocolate powder and a light vanilla.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Finish was absolutely beautiful! Just how the coconut meshed finely with the milk chocolate and cookie-ish biscuitiness.
Overall, my first Rushing Duck beer ever and damn! Are we starting off on the right foot or what! I did have high expectations for this and well, shit, they were more than met!
