On draft November 1, 2014 at brewery.

Nail polish remover in nose and taste. Obvious infection, not sure why they're serving this.

Shared large bottle in Atlanta.
Probably past optimum age, with some off aromas and flavors, and faded coffee; otherwise, mildly infected?

Mouthfeel: Very smooth near full body.

A - Pours with a light tan head. Nice lacing sticking to the glass.

S - Smells overwhelmingly like a rum cake. Sweet booze. Roast and coffee.

T - Chocolate malts, coffee, and rum.

M - Not as thick as I expected it to be, but not sure that's a problem. Plenty of carb, which is really nice.

O - Really nice stout. You'll definitely start feeling this one warm you up pretty quickly.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a deep black color with a small creamy white head that retains long after the pour

S- tons of fresh coffee up front with undertones of sweet rum and vanilla, oak and earth

T- sweet milky lactose mixes with fresh coffee and vanilla, followed by light undertones of sweet rum, finishes with more fresh coffee

M- medium body and carbonation, foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- coffee and rum barrel work great together, very well done

Definitely one of my favorite beers. Awesome aromas of rum, roasted coffee, chocolate, sweet cream, and so much more. Very complex tasting yet everything is balanced perfectly. Enjoy as much as you can before it's gone.

@ Triple C

Solid blackness beneath a bubbly ring of a head that leaves behind some quality drippy rings. Smell is sweet chocolaty malt, slightly syrupy, creamy lactose, mild rummy spice, fluffy marshmallow sweetness, and a dark coffee bean aroma that increases as it warms up. Flavor is lighter on the coffee and has a bit more boozy barrel presence. Sweet malt, cocoa, rum, and fruity coffee beans. Maybe too sweet towards the bottom of the glass, but quite enjoyable as a dessert beer. On the fuller side of medium bodied, warming in the throat. This was well-made and enjoyable. The rum barrel was just enough to add another layer without being obtrusive and the coffee was well-integrated.

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 3/4 inch light brown head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Not-so-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Acetone aroma dominates with some light vanilla sweetness and dark roast trying to push its way through but ultimately being overcome by the barrel presence. Unpleasantly astringent with no coffee.

T- Band-aid flavor with some tones of vanilla and dark roast but mainly just this intense barrel flavor that won't let up. At first, there's no coffee at all but starts to come through as it warms.

M- Another problem: overcarbonated for the style. Full body.

O- Seriously, why is this beer getting good ratings? I feel like I must have gotten a bad bottle since other reviews only speak of "a hint of rum" and "coffee being the dominant aroma." Not so in this. The barrel has completely taken over to the point of undrinkability. Huge letdown. The Big Lebowski reference is completely undeserved in this beer. The Up All Night Breakfast Porter just came out recently. I had the non-BA version and loved it and was intending on buying the BA version but, after this, I'm worried that these guys don't know their way around a barrel. My only advice on this one is to let it warm up all the way because only then does it become close to bearable.
