Stopped by BBW Fenway before a movie tonight. Tried the May Bock, served in a 16 oz glass. Bright orange color. Very little head. Peppery smell. Nice malty flavor, with a bit of tart fruit flavor that sits on the tongue after you swallow. This maibock is a bit more tangy that others I've tried in this style. It's also very dry on the palate. Bit of hops noticeable. Lingering citrus aftertaste. This would be a nice beer on a warm night. But, nothing stood out too much as to make me want to have another. Another decent seasonal from Beer Works.

The whole family stopped by the Canal St location yesterday (28MAY12) before dropping off the girls at Logan for their trip to London. I had considered one of BBWs British-themed beers, but opted with their Maibock, a style I love...

Had a couple of 16oz steins filled with a clear, bright golden liquid. Carbo was slow and scattered, and the head was white and creamy. It thinned a bit, but left nice lacework behind. The aroma was very bready along with a touch of toast and some light hopping. Quite smooth as it went down, the body of this one was solidly medium.

Good sweetness first hit the palate, along with plenty more bready, doughy malt. Again, some toastiness appeared, and these malts put down a great base on the tongue. Floral hops then came into play, giving the finish a subtle fruitiness while balancing the malts. A solid bier; very drinkable! Cheers!
