Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Clear yellow with a very thin white head.

Smell: Light hops and a hint of sweeter notes, maybe corn?

Mouthfeel/ Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of wheat, corn, and citrus. Slight bitter hops.

Overall: Good light Kolsch, refreshing.

Pretty light, even for style. Almost no head at all with a standard pour, and the suspended yeast, etc. sit still with no carbonation to keep it moving. I can definitely detect the sweetness of the melon and pear on the nose, with perhaps some white grape, too. The taste is less substantial: generic sweetness with some wheat and generic malt. Mouthfeel is the standout with this brew. Smooth yet substantial, you could sip or pound this with aplomb. Overall, a fine beer with a high floor if not an overwhelming ceiling.

On tap at the 2016 NCBMF.

Pale golden body with a decent white head.
A lightly sweet, very well crafted kolsch, with a bit more flavor than average. Light body and medium carbonation.
No complaints.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale to medium yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint straw yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy bright white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of cracker and bready malts with lighter aromas of spicy, grassy, and herbal hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of cracker and bready malts with just a hint of honey-like sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of spicy, grassy, and herbal hops in descending order of strength which impart a light amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp.

O: Very clean, easy to drink, and refreshing. Enjoyed this one and it was very nice on a warm summer evening. Nice American example of the style.

@ Tyler's (Raleigh)

Brilliant yellow covered with a patchy white head. Light, melon-like fruits, noble hops, straw, and cracker malt in the nose. Quite clean yeast-wise. Hoppy spice and a fine sweetness leading to a soft, pale fruitiness and a touch of citrus peel. Very crisp and refreshing - almost pilsener-like overall, with fairly high, snappy carbonation. This made for a good lunchtime beer. Easy going and pulls off the style well.

Surprisingly good Kolsch from a brewery I hadn't tried. Light citrus and slightly heavier than the standard for the style, but this is definitely one I'd drink again. Refreshing, easy drinker with a little more fruit flavor and a little less of the floral characteristics I would expect from a world-class kolsch.
