I love IPAs and really like the doubles but drink them in moderation as such beers should be respected and NOT over consumed.

I live in NCAL and really believe it is the Hop capital of the world with Russian River leading with thier various IPAs like Blind Pic and RR IPA. Of course Pliny the Elder is the diffinative Double IPA that I believe sets the bar.

The brewers at Northbound have got a Double that kicks ass and is worth drinking!

I hate comparing beers in terms of better or worse, rather hop character, balance and drink ability. Like people all are products of love and care and exibit differing properties. But the "ground rules double" is fantastic!

Appearance: reddish amber with moderate heAd retention
Smell: light citrus
Taste: bitter, hoppy grape fruity complex that gets better as it warms and is I believe very similar to Pliny that I don't mean to call it a knock off as it is slightly sweeter then the Pliny (I drink it 2 x week)
Mouthfeel: satisfaction with a bitter finish
Overall: 8.8% and smooth, respect this beer it is power and grace that can overwhelm you.
DIPAs are not session beers, whoa to idiots that want pitches!

Amazing new double IPA from this great brewpub. Light clear amber in color, with no real head. Smell is dank and resinous, leaning toward the pine and herb side of things, with some earthiness. Taste is a sock in the mouth of Summit hops, with a crazy pine-honey-onion thing going on. Mouthfeel is rich and full. Overall a delicious beer that makes me think of a pumped up OB Gubna, and the polar opposite of Abrasive on the flavor spectrum, but just as good.
