Brand new slick bar that opened last week... As with all new places, take the first experience with a grain of salt. Did a quick fly-by to check it out. The vibe was modern sterile chic, lots of open space with a patio out front and a 2nd floor bar upstairs. Exposed brick walls and pipes everywhere, flickering tv's on the wall behind the bar. A homogenously trendy crowd inhabited the place, an exclusively 30-55 "well-off caucasian" demographic. The guy loosening his tie next to me said to his escort date "I hear this is the hipster area". That pretty much sums it up. A definite "Lincoln Park West" nouveau riche vibe going on. There was a troop of pretty women running everywhere, hosting and serving patrons. The overall feel of the place was pretty sterile, there was a glassed-in "keg room" in the middle of the space by the center staircase. It definitely felt like they're simply jumping on the latest trend bandwagon that happens to be craft beer. Not to mention a bar group owns this place, and their other bars are clustered around Wrigley and Southport.

Beer selection was pretty good, highlights from Perennial were Hommel, Saison de Lis, and Peach Berlinerweisse. I had a saison from Solemn Oath that was pretty good. The sharp-looking beer menu was well designed with prices and descriptions, also color coded by style. Oddly "ciders & barleywines" was one category, though there were no barleywines listed. Drafts were on a separate sheet with no prices, though they are listed on beermenus (pretty reasonable). Lots of variety, should be something for most anyone on the beer menu.

Service at the bar was personable and friendly. I'd give it another try if passing by sometime, not sure that Jerry's or Smallbar have much to worry about though. Way more trendy yuppie crowd here, it felt out of place for the area, but sadly indicative of the way the neighborhood has been trending for years now.

Stopped by at 6 on a Monday. Vibe is a bit of sports bar, music semi loud. Not busy when I was there. 50 handles, solid spread of styles. Pricing is $6-7 a pint, higher for the rarer offerings. However, on Mondays they do 22 oz mugs of most offerings for $5. A very good deal. Food is pub fate. Had a burger that was solid

Good beer selection. Weird bro/frat sports vibe. Staff that doesn't know what they are pouring. Far down on the list of pubs to visit in Chicago.

After the rain subsided during our stay at nearby SmallBar, our bachelor party group made its way over here to FatPour. It seems like a generic bar/club-ish thing, with some flat screens, loud music, exposed pipes, and a general bro-ish feel in the air. The selection was pretty nice for such a place, with plenty of "craft" options alongside the usual BMC stuff; nothing was noteworthy, though, and we seemed to jump on the Small Town root beer beer for the sake of it. Upstairs there's a lounge-type area, where we sat and screamed at each other over the crappy music (no amount of uncensoring of the video can save Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines"). A nice touch is the wall of kegs around the staircase. Not sure why, just kinda cool to see. The bartender was genial enough, but the atmosphere was not conducive to chatting in any way; just a quick order and we were on our way. Overall, this seems like a nice enough place beer-wise, but I'd rather spend my time and money a few doors down at SmallBar so I can actually hear my friends and enjoy my beer.
