We took the recipe for our Black Lager and doubled the ingredients, put it in stainless for two weeks and laid it down in bourbon Barrels. Six months later the magic happened and the goat was birthed. Black Goat is a Double Black Lager; sure to please the harshest of critics. Caution: this billy kicks!

I had this beer as part of a flight at Perrin Brewery. Nice and thick, felt like a good stout. On the sweeter side. Definitely has a chocolate mocha taste to it. Very good overall.

no date visible anywhere on this one, but i unearthed it from the cellar this weekend and its been in there at least a couple of years, if not quite a bit longer than that, a strong black lager in bourbon barrels that was finally ready to see the light of day. unfortunately, i was a little faded by the time i got into this one, and may have not been at my best to fully appreciate it, but that said, i wasnt overly stoked on it, seemed to me to be past its prime a little bit, and like its a weird mix of german and american style elements, not all the way compatible maybe, although it is certainly unique. deeply dark colored but not particularly viscous, a short off white head lives on top for a few minutes and then is gone. it smells a bit oxidized, still sweet, with roast, smoke, and char elements all in the mix, lots of alcohol for its listed strength too, and then some leathery earthy character, dry cocoa, and molasses or brown sugar, complex but tired and a little exposed. the flavor is all over the place, a little soy umami thing, a little wet packing materials, lots of alcohol and residual sugars, but also cool mature wood and whiskey properties, an obvious lager yeast presence, and a neat almost burnt low end on the grain side. its well built and i wish i had it a little fresher. there is some compatibility between the whiskey and the german malts and yeast, but its weird and they dont necessarily enhance one another in the traditional way dark malt and bourbon do, but that could be a product of its age as well. unique but also a little disjointed, more beer than i needed at the moment i opened it, which is always at least a little regrettable, especially for one i have been saving so long, but still a cool one to share and something a little different...

Black in color with minimal light penetration. There’s a fingernail of beige around three quarters of the rim. The aroma is sweet bourbon, vanilla, and dark malt. I’m tasting bourbon, vanilla, and caramel. The mouth is very light and smooth.

Pours black with deep red when held to the light. Virtually no carbonation, unfortunately, which affected mouthfeel. Rich, sweet, a bit syrupy, but that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it. The chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit and bourbon flavors are rich and sweet.

Higher carbonation, but otherwise a wonderful dark brown pour complete with tan head. Caramel, molasses, bourbon, nuts, dark chocolate, and roasted malt nose. Taste adds vanilla and a bbq flavors in the depths, bourbon leads more than expected but it fits the profile that I find myself enjoying it more as it warms. Feel is full bodied, warm, and still malt forward despite a noticeable uptick in booze for the style. A fun experiment that paid off, a dark lager for winter

Damn waste of a pint money wise. Looks like a shwartz, smells in the range, but acidic domination makes it underdrinkable. At Slow's BBQ. Of course, mouthfeel is comprimised.

On tap at the brewery. Black body. Aroma is oak, some bourbon, dark chocolate and black malt. Tastes of bourbon with a heavy dose of oak. Chocolate and roast. Low sweetness, but not bitter either. Smooth creamy finish. Lingering vanilla. Medium heavy. Pretty good, but also pretty alcoholic.
