Style: English Barleywine

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.80%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
This Rye Wine pays homage to the English Barley Wines that preceded it. This Rye Wine has been aged in Bourbon Barrels. It has a quaint, alcoholic warmth, low carbonation, fruit undertones and is brewed with nine different malts including Caramel Rye Malt; an extremely unique malt that lends itself to the exquisite malt profile of this ale.

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: a deep orange. A little towards brown. Pretty good clarity. Small tannish head that fades to nothing

Smell: bourbony and alcoholic immediately. A good amount of spiciness and sweetness comes through underneath. Nothing distinctly rye but good hints of it

Taste: opens up with a good strong bourbon that mixes with a spiciness. Malt characters are mostly hidden but some sweetness and the spiciness are noticeable. A good kick of alcohol.

Mouthfeel: big and sticky. Low to moderate alcohol warmth.

Overall: a fairly good beer but doesn't taste as unique as id like it to. I was looking for more rye wine and less bourbon.
