Arguably the coolest word on the planet, Cwtch is our very own Welsh Red Ale. 6 malts, 2 US hops and weeks of Tiny Rebel love and attention go into making this unique beer.

Half pint from cask at the Cask Pub and Kitchen. Pours a dark amber/red colour with a small head. Smells sweet and fruity, dominant malts. Taste again dominated by a sweet, caramel malt, with bitter hops and a thin-medium mouthfeel. Strong flavours though. Overall a really nice beer.

Cask at Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon.
Deep brownish red. Creamy lasting tan head. Aroma brown bread and orange marmalade. Taste toasty toffee and bitter orange. Ends up being a bit too spicy bitter. Good. Not great. Has a bit of an American character, which is not my preference.

Look :- Dark brown with red around the edges where the light catches it , highly carbonated.

Smell :- Hops and toffee.

Taste :- Lightly burnt caramel and a nice sweetness that is balanced by a nice bitterness.

Mouth feel :- Thick and extra poppy bubbles.

Overall :- A luxurious feeling beer , good caramel taste , the sweetness and bitterness compliment each other well .

330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 4.6%. Copper to amber colour, moderate white head. The aroma has moderate notes of grapefruity hops, some malts in the background. The flavour is citrussy with dry malts in the background. Bittering hops in the dry aftertaste. Fair enough.

Day 7 of the advent calendar 2021

Unpronounceable shouldn't come in as a factor, right?

Mid-ruby color, white and long-lasting head, toffee on the nose. So far so good.
Sweet but balanced, caramel and something else-- almost pine resin? Whatever it is, it provides a long aftertaste and it's one that I really enjoy. The only thing missing from the equation is alcohol. At 6% this would stand a chance at being exceptional, but at 4.7% it's merely very enjoyable.

Cloudy reddish body and large thick two fingered head. Smell of dark fruits, chestnuts. Very complex palate, fruits, malts, nuts and toffees as well as quite a high hop bitterness fighting through it. Pretty thick stuff. Tasted much stronger and denser tan the 4.6% abv. I didn't like my first beer but gave it another go and it's grown on me a bit. Can't imagine putting too many of these away in one session but it's a nice unique drink.

Half pour (cask) at Purecraft. Dark brown with one finger creamy head. Woody, leathery earthy aroma. Taste brings the bitterness, nice rich dark malts. Touch of chocolate, minor sweetness. Excellent feel.

Cask at the Leather Exchange, London, England

A: The beer is clear dark red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin light beige head that left large patch of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of tea leaves are present in the nose along with hints of sweet malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of black tea leaves along with hints of sweet malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and the taste develops a nice balance between the tea leaves and the malts as it warms up.

Can. Cloudy amber. Thick frothy and dense head. Lacing present.
Rich aroma of mixed fruit and grain.
The taste is a subdued variation of the smell. Toffee apple now apparent. Multi faceted.
A bit chewy. Moderate body with soft carbonation.
Enjoyable.

Cwtch hit the spot.
Looks a pale, let's say chestnut. Smells a fruit, then a nut. Tastes mostly malty and bready with moderate bitterness. Then, the hops finish long but not too strong for enjoyment and refreshment.

My first from Tiny Rebel, so I went on their website. I didn't find out much about them, other than they are iconoclasts and pay lots of attention to graphics and swag and have three taprooms. All is good. I don't get many beers from Wales and I like the Welsh fighting spirit. So, some big OA hugs.

330ml can.
L: Opaque, auburn colour with a small, big-bubbled head and rings of lacing.
S: Lychee & hazelnut. Kind of.
T: Spicy, sweet & bready. Light bitterness.
F: Medium body, some chewiness and a dry finish.
O: Perfumed, crisp and agreeable. Tasted like there was rye in the grain bill but apparently not the case.

L- Pale chestnut, slightly hazy. Pours with 5mm white head.
S- Damn this might be the smelliest beer I've ever had. I could clearly describe it now from 30Cm away, extraordinary! And up close it's solid passion-fruit and lychee.
T- Oh my, it's dry and very sour on the front end. Some highly perfumed passionfruit in the middle and a bitter/sour/dry after-effect having swallowed.
F- A curious very dry and very perfumed beer.
O- I don't get it, and I wonder who would enjoy this kind of beer profile. I shan't be having this one again.
