Visited for lunch and a beer after cycling in the local area. Inside it was a nice restaurant and bar, think an Appleby's-type decor but nicer. Food and service were very good. The tap selection was impressive, including mostly CA brewers, but having a range of others as well. Some limited release beers, like the one from The Bruery that I had. The beers were fresh and served in appropriate glassware. I would definitely visit again.

The wife and I attended a beachside wedding in Ventura and spent the night in town. Lucky us, Barrelhouse 101 was within walking distance from our hotel.

101 taps, all good. And an overwhelming menu: 30 IPA/DIPA, mostly Cali: North Coast Old Stock, a section of "Drink Local (within 40 miles)", 7 stouts including Lost Serpent, and a “Unique Feature”: He’Brew Bock Bock... 5 sours including Wild Beer Modus Vivendi (ten bucks, though). Truly outrageous.

Knowledgeable, enthusiastic bartender. Food was so-so, though, didn’t dig the chicken wings and the garlic-truffle fries were only OK, decent bar food to wash down all those beers.

Their “Library Cellar” has many incredible vintage bottles: Firestone Walker Anniversary Ale, Black Xantus, Almanac Cognac Barrel Noir, Farmer’s Reserve, Cascade Figaro, FiftyFifty Eclipse ’13, Paradox Skully, Bruery Sour in the Rye ’12. Incredibly expensive though. 35-55 dollars.

This place is truly awesome, period.

Good vibe, lots of taps - though mostly "pass". Service is random. Food is decent.

Most of their beer is old, stale, skunky, buttery and disgusting. I don't know if it is storage conditions, funky lines, or old / stale beer to begin with. They obviously have no idea what they are doing. Food is average pub fair. Service is okay unless they are busy. Don't expect much if they are.

A craft beer paradise! 101 beers on tap that rotate regularly, so no funky beer lines. All day happy hour Mondays, $2 beers (select beers) Tuesday, Wingman Wednesdays, Tap Takeovers and events are very common, including a monthly bottle share night. The food is much improved since its grand opening, they do listen. And hey, you might score a free pint when they're changing lines. The size of the parking lot and bathrooms is a minor gripe. But it hasn't stopped me from coming since the get-go.

Excellent beer selection, 101 on tap with a good assortment of local and classics. Additional bonus that we came just after a firestone event and sampled ddba, sucaba and parabola.

The service was slow, but it was packed on a Tuesday. I think it was unexpected, so I give them the benefit of the doubt.

The food was good, but a bit pricey.

I would go back in an instant.

Ventura County was in need of a really good bar with lots of beers to choose from...along comes Barrelhouse 101. YAY!
They have a great selection of beers on tap, that they update every few weeks or so.

Recently went to their Firestone Event which was awesome - some great samplers in a flight including Parabola and many more.

I have rated the food pretty low, not because it isn't good but because you don't get much of it and its quite expensive for what you get especially the appetizers. Other local breweries provide plenty of food for pretty cheap.

I will not eat here but am a regular to the bar.

They have 101 beers on tap, with some great selections. They have fried twinkles that look delicious, but I stuck to the beer. They have a full bar and wine as well. There are 2 TVs behind the bar, and you just get a good vibe about beer here.

The beer selection is the best I've seen in Ventura/Oxnard with some "hard to finds". Prices were average. There is an outdoor area, but was raining on our afternoon visit. There weren't many people inside, but not sure what to expect on a wednesday afternoon. Wait staff was very friendly, and had an average beer knowledge. I would come back for sure.
