Disclaimer I am not a big IPA person. I will try them and I have found some I have thoroughly enjoyed. This is not a bad IPA just not one that I prefer. I think most IPA drinkers will enjoy this beer.

This beer is a nice golden amber tone, the hops are there and quite bitter but crisp. This isn’t a fruity IPA, and that’s great, a nice change of pace beer that goes great with a gumbo or jambalaya.

Hazy amber appearance with a medium size, off white head and good lacing. Aroma of soft fruit and sweet grains. Flavor is moderately sweet but nicely balanced by resinous hops up front and a fruitier aftertaste. Creamy, medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish. Good bargain.

Not only is this brewed for New Orleans. It smells and possibly tastes like the streets of New Orleans. Not even a pressure washing crew could remove this foulness from my mouth. Just a bad IPA. Sour, green, the yeast choice, just all of it is one BIG EASY NO! This beer puts the NO in NOLA.

I think Wrought Iron IPA was a pretty good IPA. I had a few within the last few days in Louisiana.
Look: golden with an inch thick white head
Aroma: caramel, floral, pine
Taste: The flavor is toasty bread, caramel, grapefruit, orange, ending in a dry bitterness pine resin and grapefruit rind.
Body/Overall: light to medium body, medium bitterness, well balanced, IBU 80, I think it is good.

Brief impression from a bottle:
Apollo hops are dominant, imparting lofty bitterness and some mild hop oil flavour as well as herbaceous cannabis. Pale malt and some other heftier malt (I think crystal?) anchor it. Balance isn't quite dialed in and Mosaic hops are poorly showcased.
Drinkable but underwhelming. More mediocrity from Abita.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a stemless wine glass. Hazy, golden copper color, with an aggressive pour yielding a dense, two-finger white head that eventually settled to a decent cap. Big aromas and flavors of light caramel and toffee, pine and pine resin, tropical fruit, and grapefruit, all with a very nice floral undertone. Medium mouthfeel, quite bitter, with a rather dry finish. There is a touch of astringence on the back end, with some lingering, resiny bitterness. Overall, this is a very good beer with an interesting hop profile.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is gold/copper, head is light tan with fine, frothy bubbles that present deep with 2 inches of head, which then dissipates to top and some lacing on the glass.
Smell has some toasty malt, then the hops kick in with light grapefruit and other citrus like notes, some herbal notes as well.
Taste has a bit more bitterness than aroma - toasty malt is evident, maybe some biscuit, grapefruit/citrus hops, light herbal notes.
Mouthfeel is bitter, a bit strong and biting on the tongue for the lower level flavors and hop notes.
Overall a decent IPA, as some indicate this is probably fairly good really fresh but loses its quality with age quickly.

Very nice and refreshing IPA - always been meaning to try more of Abita’s offerings. Nice golden color, slightly hazy with mild head. Smells nicely of hops, more citrus than floral. Tastes of great citrus hops, again a little less floral hops. Mild bitterness is well balanced by the sweet malt. Thin mouthfeel, good amount of carbonation throughout. Very easy to drink and no unpleasant bitter aftertaste.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; no production information available.
A: Pours a light copper color with exuberant, one inch light tan head formation, solid solid retention, rings of lacing all the way down the glass.
S: Aromas of berries, particularly straw- and black really strong with, Twizzle Stix and caramel malt evident.
T: Caramel malt up front with some berry flavor in the background. Strong bitterness, perhaps more consistent with a WCAIPA.
M: Light to medium bodied with medium to strong carbonation.
O: Surprised by the bouquet. Really an interesting AIPA.

a sturdy and super high alpha ipa, the kind of beer you need to wake you up in the morning sometimes, especially in new orleans, where night turns into morning pretty quickly. if this isnt fresh, dont even bother, but if you catch it just right, there is a gorgeously robust ipa in this bottle, malty enough only to support a ton of bitterness and a bright citrus hop profile, rich without being sweet, and substantial without being heavy. some of the flavors here remind me of victory hop devil, not as red malty or anything, but the raging intensity of the hops combined with enough grain backbone to make it pretty hefty is happening here too. thats a compliment. i like how bitter it is, we just dont see that anymore with the juicy dry hopped craze taking over, its nice to have something with some bite. its remarkably dry in the end too for how much of a grain influence there is here, and it drinks easier than it should for being so flavorful. i didnt love the way it warmed up, so i advise drinking it swiftly, but when ice cold and fresh, this is a delicious beer. abita impressed me on my trip to new orleans, a lot more interesting and high quality beer than i had experienced from them before...

Enjoy by date of Jan 2018. Poured to mason drinking jar.
L: Hazy orange. Nice bright head. Good retention. Lacing slid down the glass.
S: Very distinct and citrusy. Sharp, loud and evident pink grapefruit and orange peel. Has some tropical elements as well. Pretty sweet. I love it!
T: Very flavorful for an IPA. Matches the nose, very citrusy but plenty of tasteful bitterness to accompany.
F: Medium. Crisp. On the dryer side. Very drinkable.
O: This one really hit the spot for me. The aroma was very strong and enjoyable and the taste didn't fall short. I am very impressed with the Wrought Iron. It's better than I expected. Found this as a single bottle at Winn Dixie Inverness but would entertain a sixer anytime! This is a very good beer. Much better than Andygator IMO. A much better than average IPA.

In true Louisiana fashion, every beer that rolls out of Abita is a concise, crisp, clean and dry taste compared to other beers of other regions. Their IPA that features Equinox, Citra and Apollo hops is a lighter, much more succinct taste and texture while using these new, sexy and coveted collection of cones.
Wrought Iron pours a golden orange hue with a significant but normal haze. Its fluffy white crown emits a wealthy hop perfume of citrus, tropical and orchard fruit along with a broadly herbal bouquet. Its taste is lightly honied and caramelized with toasted grains in a near cereal-like form.
As the hops open up on the middle palate, they abound with the taste of tangy, under ripe orange, pink grapefruit and a tangy lemon and lime medley. Tropical flavors reveal a tangy succulence of young pineapple, mango and papaya before the closing chords of herb, pine and grassiness provides the bitterness that solid IPA deserves.
Light in body, the beer's ample carbonation provides a militant bubbly lift while exposing a light carbonic bite. The rawness of grain comes across lightly astringent while the lemony side of hops contribute a southern sun tea taste. Dry, crisp and highly refreshing, Wrought Iron IPA delivers on its hot weather promises.
