Andygator, a creature of the swamp, is a unique high-gravity brew made with pale malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Dopplebock.

Look is medium blonde. Smell is of heavy blonde Pilsner malt. Taste is full bodied, and bready. Feel is thick and full bodied. Overall, a good Maibock and one I would be happy to try again.

Slight foam that lasts. Looks nice and clear. Doesn't smell fresh. Tastes a little bitter, very malty. Reminds me of a good old malt liquor. Will drink what is now on hand, waste not want not, but wouldn't go for a restock. Later, on a second chance, still working on trying to like it. Hard to get by the Olde English 800 taste.

Well I’m at the airport in NOLA so I thought I’d drink one more Louisiana beer before I leave. And this one had an attractive label with a picture of a cartoon gator wearing a crown so hey hey let’s go for that. Cost $8 and it’s 8%. Now after reading some online, the correct term for this beer is heller dopplebock, not helles. And its parent name is a Maibach. And there aren’t many brewed in the US. Poured into a tall glass, not much head but it settled in a ring around the edges. Golden in color. Well right off the smell isn’t one of its strong points. Very lagery scent like a yeungling or maybe a cheaper beer like bud light. And yes the beer taste itself is much like a far cheaper mass produced beer. It’s plenty malty with slight happiness and with just a hint of citrus flavor. Mouthfeel is light crisp and refreshing with plenty of bubbles. I’m not particularly wowed by the beer, but it’ll do me just fine while I’m waiting. Maybe I’ll even have two. We’ll see where the mid afternoon takes me.

The date code on the neck of the bottle is 21125 which I'm assuming means the 125th day of 2021, and I'm assuming that's a Bottled-On date. It was just an okay beer, mildly hoppy, well balanced with the malt, dry at the end, but it just tasted old.

L: Pours a golden orange color with a small to medium foamy head and fingers of lacing around the glass.

S: Fresh toasted bread, with notes of honey, some notes of lemon and almost a light wheat, and a note of sweet fruit.

T: Fresh toasted bread, some apricot and a light lemon, notes of honey and other slight sweet fruit, nicely drinking helles.

F: Large body, crisper drinking.

O: A very enjoyable helles.

If it was served in an unmarked bottle it'd pass for a top german or belgian beer. Personally one of my favorite American beers. Dark amber, thick and moderately sweet without sticking after you drink it

Look: It pours on the amber side with an off white head. Head retention is moderate.

Smell: It has a grainy and yeast combination in the aroma. There is a low herbal quality.

Taste: It has some grainy sweetness to it with bread. There is a yeasty quality to it with noticeable alcohol.

Feel: It has a moderate body with a bit os slickness to it.

Overall, some of the flavors especially the yeast notes throw the flavor off for me.
