Swung by a grocery store and made my own six pack while down in New Orleans. Can find Abita everywhere. Pours a bright clear golden color with plenty of head and lacing. Smell is pleasant, and initial taste is surprisingly smooth with a little bitterness that finishes quite smooth. Definately gotta find more this summer

Was looking forward to another offering from Abita. They have a nice Octoberfest.

This "helles" is nothing to write home about.

Too hoppy, no full flavor and IMHO - no good.

Sorry. Avoid this mess.

First beer I've had of the style..not sure what to think. Nothing special to me the malt profile stands out..thin bodied easily drinkable. For being 8% you could easily session these as the booze is well masked

Nothing special, it has a grain/malt front that fades

Taste Rating in Words: You enter a gift store and put a king cap on, it's the illusion of special and then it fades, you realize you're standing in the store with a new case of head lice. . . But you still look smashing.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle,into a Funky Buddha snifter.Best by 06/17/17.

Creamy white head that stands 2 fingers tall with good retention and sticky lacing.Deep golden colored body with a slight amber hue,and very good clarity.Low on carbonation.

On the nose I get sweet malts, wheat, sweet corn, and some hints of white grapes. Also getting some yeast and slight hints of piney hops.

The palate follows the nose with sweet corn, wheat, and sweet malts up front, some piney and floral hops in the middle, and white grapes with some earthy malt on the back end.Flavors of wheat are pretty consistent throughout the sip.Small hints of alcohol on the back end.

The mouth feel is thin yet sticky, with a slightly dry yet smooth finished.Moderate amount of oxidation on the tongue.

This is a pretty solid beer, not something I would look for but not something I would turn down either.

Very malty, slightly hoppy, and slightly citrusy. First maibock so I have nothing to compare it to, but I did enjoy it. Went well with the red beans and rice I ate since it was a lighter flavor.

This one of my favorite beers. It is a great tasting Helles Lager with a well-rounded body. When poured, the head is very healthy but not overwhelming .

Cloudy gold color with a good head. A good beer smell with fruity notes. A good but not great taste. It is smooth with an easy swallow and almost no aftertaste.
