Served in a cold mug at the acme oyster house for the first time and it was very good. Nice aroma and taste, and a nice little extra pop. Very surprised at the quality but decided to try at the bar. I will have this brew again in the near future, probably at the same place.

Sampled at the brewery in the tasting room before a brewery tour today.

Nice golden colour with a bright white head, about a 1/4 inch on the pour and recedes to a thin cap. Gobs of sticky lacing.

Smells predominantly like over ripe banana with some caramel and malt.

Tastes just like the aroma. Bananas just on the verge of being rotten, just over ripe dominates the palate with spots of caramel and malt popping up here and there.

I wasn't a big fan of this one as that banana smell/taste was too much.

Interesting, but I wouldn't have one again.

For some reason, the bottle says it is a doppelbock, but this site has it listed as a Maibock. So I won't rate this as a doppelbock, because if I did, it would be a poor doppelock- not heavy on the malt and dark to be sure. Overall, it is a great Maibock, actually one of the best I've had. I drank it a bit colder than room temp and it is very fruity and golden in color, just like a tripel. It is a good summer beer with lots of alcohol- beautiful golden color and tasty. Not zay doppel, to be sure

22 oz. bottle poured into a tall footed goblet

Pours a bright clear honey-gold with one finger of fizzy white head that quickly recedes to a thin collar with a few patches of light lacing. Smells like ripe banana, creamed sweet corn, sourdough bread and clean alcohol.

Taste starts off sweet like a smooth bready bock, but slowly morphs into a grassy herbal hop bitterness, with a little spice and lemon along the way. It's full bodied and slightly sticky, but finishes pretty dry. Not finding it particularly boozy but, there is certainly a noticeable lingering alcohol warmth.

Overall, I liked it but didn't love it. I found many of the individual characteristics to be attractive, but the sum total seemed just slightly above average. I'm sure I'll buy Andygator again, as it's a good value, but it won't be a regular.
