BEER INFO

Abita Brewing Co.
Louisiana, United States

Style: American Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Formerly Pecan Harvest Ale

Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans that have been toasted to perfection. That makes it something really special, because most beers with a nutty flavor or aroma aren’t made with real nuts. The natural oils from the Louisiana pecans give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma.

Deep bronze. Lacing if film.
Smell is caramel. Sweet. Not much
Caramel, toffee. Some coffee. Toast. Kind of feel there may be some diacetyl. Heavily sweet. Buttery sweet.
Feel like light. Almost medium. Bold sweetness up front. Very dry end.

I feel like this had potential on paper but falls a bit short.

Pecan Harvest Ale brewed by Abita Brewing Co., with an ABV of 5.20% This American Brown Ale pours out a nice light brown color with a small off white head. Really liking the copper color of this brew. This brew has the look of most brown ales on the market, not saying that is a bad thing. There is some decent lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell of Pecan Harvest Ale is sweet, with roasted malts, grains and nuts. Hops are really mild in the smell of this brown ale. The pecan is a nice touch to this brew. Between the look and smell this is one inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is rich and smooth with flavors. You first pick up on mild roasted gains and malts. Then a mild sweetness and pecan flavors. There is a lot going on inPecan Harvest Ale . Pecan Harvest Ale , has a real nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. The body is a solid medium. This brew would go nice with a dinner. The mouth feel is Bold, Rich, Clean , Pecan, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Pecan Harvest Ale a 4.50 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the chance to. Abita Brewing Co., Did a nice job with this brew.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Golden amber color, nice head and lacing. Slightly sweet smell. Decent maltiness with a hint of pecan. A bit thin. Ok beer.

This beer has strong malt flavors, which blends great with the pecans. The matiness and pecans almost gives a coffee cake like flavor. I wish this beer was available year round.

It pours amber color with a nice head on it. It has a malty and caramel smell to it, the taste is heavy on malts with a hint of the pecan coming in at the end. A easy beer to drink with a nice taste a very good effort by Abita.

Deep, clear red amber color with modest white cap.

Aroma of rich sweet malt with a hint of nuttiness in the background. No hops apparent.

Taste is of a smooth, rich, toffeeish amber brew with a definite but unobtrusive nuttiness complementing the malt. Very rounded and easy drinking that's rich without being heavy.

Medium body with balancing carbonation.

Not complex but pretty good for what it is which is what I can say about the Abita lineup generally.
