Notes / Commercial Description:
Jockamo I.P.A. is a traditional India Pale Ale made with the best pale and light crystal malts that give the beer a copper color and malty flavor. This full-flavored beer is hopped and dry hopped liberally with Willamette and Columbus hops from the Pacific Northwest and has a 6.5% A.B.V. The spicy aroma of the hops contrasts nicely with the pleasant sweetness of the malts. Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate.

This brew was served from the tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY into a Brooklyn Brewery pint glass, and glowed a golden red color. There was a half finger head of creamy tan bubbles, leaving sticky sheets of lacing around the glass as it departed at a medium pace. No haze or sediment was noted, and carbonation appeared active. The aroma was bright with piney hops, bubblegum and banana esters, pale malts, light toast, and tea/herbal dill qualities. Our first impression was that it was tasty, with nice herbal qualities. The flavoring opened with watered citrus, herbal hops, bright dill, and lactic sour cream. The middle peaked with more bittered hops and citric rind. More pale malts and toast came in, with more yeast, lemon juice, and copper at the finish. The aftertaste breathed of citric and piney hops, mint, metallic yeast, dill, and light esters. The body was medium, and the carbonation was medium. There was soft slurp and sip, with light coating and mild astringent drying. The abv was appropriate, and the beer was very easy drinking.

Overall, what we liked best about this was the herbal quality to the nose and taste. The dill gave a very unique air, and made for an interesting, refreshing beer. If you like IPAs then this would be a nice one to try for you, but if you’re just looking for something new, then you can probably find something more exciting elsewhere.

12oz bottle served into a Great Divide pint glass.
Review from notes:

A - Pours a copper orange with 2 fingers of rocky head with average retention. Very little lacing left behind.

S - Sweet crystal malts, citrus hops, bready aroma.

T - Matches the nose with sweet grainy malt, hints of caramel, citrus pith bitterness, doughy yeast, pine comes out as it warms. Hops come through stronger on the finish.

M - Thin feel with medium carbonation.

Nothing wrong with this, just an average IPA. I could take it or leave it.
