Restoration Pale AleRestoration Pale Ale
Notes: Restoration Pale Ale is made with Pale, Lager, Crystal and Cara Pils malted barley. It is liberally hopped and dry hopped with American Cascade and fermented with California Ale yeast. The end result is a brilliant gold ale with a rich body, mild bitterness and a snappy fresh citrus hop flavor and aroma.

12 oz bottle, pint glass

A – Medium gold with an inch of white foam collar, moderate retention. Mild haziness.

S – Tropical fruit, guava and papaya. Biscuit malt with a light honey impression. A touch of vanilla.

T – Guava and papaya, and also pineapple juice. Light biscuit malt, maybe some light brown sugar. A mild hop bite.

M – Medium-high carbonation, medium body. On the sudsy side. Light residual sweetness, with enough bitterness to balance.

O – Some interesting things happening here, but not sure they meld into a better whole.

This Pale Ale by Abita has 5.2% ABV (NOT 5.0%) and has 25 IBUs. The color index is 9 SRM. I poured this into a standard pub pint glass.

Look-It pours a significantly hazy orange-yellow with a white foamy head that settles quickly. It almost looks like a Heffeweizen, but maybe not AS hazy.

Smell-It smells of lemon and various citrus and tropical fruits along with some honey-suckle malts.

Taste-I taste guava, papaya, mango, pineapple, and orange peel citrus from the hops and a brilliant honey-based malt backbone. I pick up on some light bready and toasty malts as well. The carbonation is a mild fizz and the mouthfeel is medium-bodied and soapy/sudsy. There are slight hop oils lingering on the tongue.

Overall-This is a proper Pale Ale as I would describe it: quite refreshing and sufficiently complex. The flavors mix well yet are distinguishable. Cheers!

Poured a lazy, hazy light copper color into a standard pint glass.

Light citrusy, appley nose, I get some cola-esque notes as well. Typical of Abita beers, the malts are pretty distinctive and make themselves known.

Yup, malty for an APA...light carmely flavors. Hops are not very heavy and there is not much carbonation.

A very sessionable beer, nothing overly spectacular. Would probably buy again, but like the Golden and Jockamo offerings from Abita better.

Very cool that $1 from each sixer goes to help rebuild NOWLA...hence the name!

12oz bottle

A- Pours a clear golden amber color with an off-white head.

S- The aroma is malt that is slightly biscuity with a touch of citrusy hops. Not too much going on with the aroma.

T- The taste is biscuity malt with a hint of caramel and a touch of hops. Like the aroma, the taste is just unexciting.

M- The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a good

D- Overall, a pretty average pale ale at best. Not horrible but not something i'd purchase again.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Thanks to Rex and Rhonda for bringing this over!

BEST BY: 06/19/10

A: Pours a crystal clear, pale gold with three full fingers of fizzy, off-white foam. Retention was fleeting and it quickly evaporated to a thin skim that left the tiniest amount of lace.

S: On the weaker side of floral. Vague lemon scent, as well.

T: See above. Some dry, toasty malt and a bit of caramel.

M: Decently spicy and quite sticky. Finishes bitter.

D: This is a passable pale ale, but with so many better options available, I doubt I'll revisit.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A: Very nice, large fluffy whitish head, that settles into a beautiful rocky head. Leaves a very nice sticky lacing. Almost a honey color, with a slight bit of cloudiness, but still clear. Not a lot of carbonation, but still some there.

S: Caramel, and a slight bit of hops. Almost a slight floral quality to it. Also a very pleasant grassiness scent, with some slight phenols. Very nice scent.

T: Very simple, but pleasant. Nice balance of hops and malts make it very balanced. A nice bit of caramel, and also a slight bit of hoppiness at the end, leaves a very pleasant dry finish. Slight bit of sweetness, then the hops come in and prevent it from becoming cloying.

M: Very thin to me, but very nice. Not a lot of carbonation, but lends a very nice mouthfeel.

D: Very easy to drink, not very strong in it's flavor profile, but a very pleasant beer. Would make a great session beer.

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a dark golden amber with a thin white head. Smell was slightly fruity, but also had touches of maple syrup. Taste was akin to white bread, had hints of vanilla. Very slightly sweet, but very pleasant. Was slightly watery and carbonated in the mouth. Very easy to drink, pleasant and smooth going down.

Poured this 12 oz. brown bottle into a Sierra Nevada hops glass. Best by: 4/11/09. From a "Party Pack". The body was paleyellowy gold. Slightly hazy. White soapy head. The etching in the glass kept the head alive throughout.

Smell was faintly of oranges. Light tobacco aromas. Earthy. Grainy.

Taste was tangy bitterness. Earthy and fruity. Husky graininess surfaced when allowed to warm.

Mouthfeel was medium in body with some prickliness in the body. Not too much carbonation.

light amber in color, small head, little lacing

smells a little floral but mostly caramel, not bad but kinda average

tastes like it smells but a little milder,a little more bitter than sweet, not really impressed by this beer

not much for a mouthfeel, kinda light and a little astringent

overall its a decent beer but i prefer abita's jockamo and save our shores pilsner to this one for sure
