Notes / Commercial Description:
Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of pale, crystal and chocolate malts. Turbodog began as a specialty ale but has gained a huge loyal following and has become one of our flagship brews.

Review from notes. Sampled 12/22.

Abita Turbodog, on-tap and served in a pint glass.

A: Pours a surprisingly dark black with hints of tawny brown.

S: Very malty nose, full of crystal and chocolate malt. Sweet though, with a light smoke character, and a touch of roast.

T: Smooth, creamy cocoa, light caramel, and a slight bitter hoppiness. Light notes of wood and honey. A touch dry and astringent on the finish.

MF: Creamy and smooth light-to-medium body with a dry aftertaste.

O: A good sessionable Brown Ale, with nice malty and earthy notes. Not overly bitter and relatively smooth.

Poured into a snifter (and into my red beans and rice sauce)

Appearance: Semi-opaque; dark cola brown. Half finger tan head that lingers. Good lacing.

Smell: malts, chocolate, light hoppy resins

Taste: rich, chocolate-y, with malt and caramels biting down. Slightly oily finish.

Mouthfeel: light to medium; not much carbonation

Overall: a decent English brown. Sessionable. Even better on draft. Helped make the red beans and rice pretty tasty.
