I'm not really sure what to use as a basis for reviewing this beer -- and apparently neither is Abita. On various places on the label, they describe it as "flavored beer" "beer" and "raspberry malt beverage."

After tasting, I guess I'd have to go with the latter. Personally, I couldn't discern a lot of "beeriness" in this brew. It looked nice in the glass, golden with a very slight reddish hue and a very robust, long-lasting head. The aroma was promising, with strong overtones of sour raspberry. But the taste failed to pay off any of its promise. The raspberry that was so apparent on the nose seemed virtually nonexistent on the palate. Instead, there was a metallic, chemically flavor that did not remind me of beer in any way. At least it wasn't overly sweet (or sweet at all, for that matter).

I rarely fail to finish a beer once I open it, but this one got the better of me. I just couldn't find anything to enjoy.
