Pours a light straw color with a soapy two finger white head. Aroma is ridiculous with huge tropical fruits, melon, citrus, and some pine/earthy hints. Flavor follows with citrus and tropical fruits mixed with an earthy, herbal, pine like bitterness that is not overwhelming. Mouthfeel is medium. Overall, this is a very good dipa, one of my favorites of the style so far because it is balanced and doesn't lean far in bitterness and alcohol.

Pour is a golden orange, slightly more clean than hazy. Half finger white head with moderate lacing.

Smell is a good balance between pine and citrus. The citrus is pretty lemon zest foward with orange peel. Some very subtle tropical fruit like pineapple, papaya and grapes.

Taste is initially a little citrus and pine. Not much tropical notes in the taste like the nose, and not much of a malt body either. Quite one dimensional taste (citrus, pine) but gets the job done.

Mouthfeel is more on the thin side, moderate carbonation.

Farily simple DIPA but nothing is out-of-balance. Slightly one dimensional, with just citrus and pine being the dominant flavors. But I prefer my IPA's to not have a dominant malt backbone or crazy hop resin. Very accessible and easy to drink.

Amber orange with a very content to stay where it is dirty white froth. Smells of pure grapefruit juice with notes of caramel lurking in the background. Grapefruit also washes over the palate followed by hints of orange, lemon, faint pine at the back of the throat and even fainter caramel. Almost light in body, and dare I say refreshing when speaking of a DIPA (or any beer for that matter)?

A very fluid and flavorful beer by any standard.

The color of the beer was a very light shade of yellow, and the body was quite hazy, making this look like a Witbier or a BSPA, rather than a DIPA. The head formation was on the large side, rising up to three plus finger thick, and crowning above the rim of the tulip glass. The aroma was mild for the style, mixing citric and floral hop smells, but not overwhelming the nose. The taste was a lot hoppier than the aroma hinted at, as there was a sharp citric bitterness up front, followed closely by a spicy punch. The malt bill was very pale, which really made the hops shine through. The website doesn't say, but I wonder if there was a substantial amount of wheat malt in here. I think so, because I could detect quite a bit of of banana and bubblegum in the flavor as well. The mouthfeel was very light, and extremely creamy. This was a very drinkable DIPA, and felt somewhat like an extremely hopped up Duvel. The same deceptive simplicity, and an approachable construction, hiding a deceptively hidden ABV punch. Nice job Avery..

No, no and no. Nothing unique here, I feel the hop flavor has faded from what it once was with the cans I have. They really should have renamed this beer, because I was expecting something similar to Maharaja. This beer is a let down in hop flavor and what is with that weird amount of malt in the finish? Not balanced, not on the level.

I love you Avery, but after that Pezik Saison affair and now this I don't trust your cans anymore.

Gold in color with a half inch of tightly knit bright white. Aroma is of floral Mosiac hops. Heavy lacing. I taste strong floral hops with along with light malt. I taste a light sage note due to the floral hops along with pale malt. The mouth is fairly crisp, moderately carbonated, and dry.

After a few Massachusetts juice bombs, I've been looking for something similar for sale in Ohio. This is pretty close. A bit more citrus than juice, but mango is peeking through. Great nose and mouth feel make for a very enjoyable double IPA.

This one poured a bright yellow gold, not like the darker color I was expecting. A fluffy pure white head that billowed to the top of the tulip glass and held its height for a while. A lacy film on top with a heavier ring until the end of the drink. The smell was great...the tropical fruitiness you expect from a quality DIPA. The taste was the same, a fruity pineapple with honey taste with a right touch of bitterness at the end. I really appreciated the feel, which I thought was a little on the lower end of carbonation. A nice, smooth, silky feel with the right amount of body. Overall, I extremely enjoyed this beer.

Quite pale but with huge clingy head. Strong tropical aroma of mango, pineapple, peach and tangerine. It tastes very similar, with pine and spiciness on the finish as well. Mouthfeel is oily and juicy, but with a dry finish. This is a magnificent easy drinking Double IPA.

Comes in a very cloudy yellow with a thin eggshell white head. It looks like pineapple juice.
The aroma offers passionfruit, lemon, pineapple, mango, and cannabis-like dankness.
The palate explodes of pineapple juice, passionfruit, mango, lemon zest, and orange. The malt body is subtle, smooth, and barely noticeable. Crackers and white bread. Finishes with a note of orange peel, pine needles, and cannabis resin, but then ends very cleanly.
The mouthfeel is super creamy and lush, with light carbonation.

An excellent DIPA, very New-England like in terms of mouthfeel and tropical flavors!

poured from a can into a tulip glass. canned 02/07/16

L- Deep pale yellow, good clarity, two finger white head.

S- Orange juice, passion fruit, Juicy Fruit hopness, citrus pith.

T- Passion fruit, grapefruit peel and pith, medium high bitterness, not too dry. Alcohol hidden well.

F- Medium, good carbonation, easy drinking for a double.

O- Nice double with a very light malt bill but not to dry, great aromas and flavors from the Australian hops that remind me of the new Oskar Blues IPA which I really liked.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium straw colored golden with a fine two finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus and dank hops, orange family citrus, tropical fruit, green onion, mild bready malt. Flavor is resinous dank, citrus hops, mild bready malt, orange and tangerine, grapefruit, guava and mango, finishes with lingering resinous hops and an odd, light estery fruit flavor that fits nicely with the hops. Medium bodied with a pleasant light creaminess. A nice imperial IPA with a emphasis on resinous hops, with flavors across the hop spectrum, but little fresh herbal hop flavors. The hop profile is flavorful and the malt, although mild in the background is substantial enough to support the hops nicely. ABV well and tastily covered. Different and enjoyable.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Kona pint glass L: clear dark yellow, tons of bubbles streams, finger of head, and thick lacing A: wonderful juicy citrus notes with slight pine scents T: follows the nose, juicy sweet citrus with a slight hoppy bitterness, alcohol flavors come out as it warms but not enough to detract from the overall flavor M: heavy and wet with a juicy finish O: very good DIPA, worth buying for sure

12oz can. Canned 2/7/2016. Served into a snifter glass.

Clear light golden body, two finger white head with good retention, a bit of lacing. Smells of pineapple and a bit of bubble gum, mineral, a bit of caramel and grain but not a lot of that. A bit of grapefruit as well. Flavour is sweet with a big bitter tropical fruit punch on the backend. Mineral, touch of banana, caramel and grainy sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp and bitter pineapple/citrus zest on the backend. Solid DIPA, quite a bit different than Maharaja- I had no idea that this was a different beer.

12 oz. can:

Pours slightly hazed straw yellow. A thin lasting head leaves lacing.

The smell is of tropical/citric fruits - pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, some pine.

The taste is of pineapple, grapefruit, pine-like perfume. Just enough bready malt to give it a backbone. Some sharp alcohol.

It is a bit sharp, but not unreasonably so for abv level. Medium-bodied.

A well-done, DIPA witha complex hop character.

Pours a hazy dark gold with a two fingers of frumpy, eggshell-colored foam with excellent retention and lacing. Big nose is bursting with tropical fruit, especially pineapple and guava, with lots of fresh orange peel. Huge flavors run the gamut of tropical sweet to bitter notes that I won't begin to list except to say that the big body and mouthfeel are conducive to gradually teasing them apart from one sip to the next, and there's an excitingly quirky citrus melange on the finish. I greatly enjoyed this beer and will definitely buy more.

Canned 2-7-16, wish this was fresher, but this will do as a baseline..

Pours an effervescent gold with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Insane lacing & good head retention

S: A little lemon & grapefruit pith as this warms

T: Mango, pineapple, orange & light breadyness up front. Grapefruit shows as this warms, a little mango. too. Finishes with pomello, grapefruit, & a little breadyness

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, great balance

This beer is bringing the citrus & a little tropical, drinks too easy . So happy to get to try this!

A - head definitely dissipates quick for a beer that's hopped up, nice clear golden color though
S - big peach, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, sweet malts, orange, lemon lime
T - follows the nose - peach, mango, Mandarin orange, passion fruit, papaya, lemon lime, sweet caramel malts
M - medium feel, alcohol covered, aftertaste sweet malt and hops, almost too sweet
O - it's too sweet, it definitely has a distinct tropical fruit flavor, but I'm getting a lot of cloying sweetness with it, tastes almost like they added artificial fruit juice, but I don't think they did

Poured from a 12oz can into pint glass in February 2016. No date on the can.

Appearance: Golden with light tan head. Beer color is clear, and a little cloudy. Head and lacing are thick. It leaves a thick film on the glass long after the head disappeared.

Smell: Aroma dominated by citrus. There is some hops and pine aroma as well, but it is dominated by the citrus.

Taste: The taste is also dominated by the citrus fruit flavors. There is also bite from the hops, and a little sweetness from the malts. The aftertaste has with a bite from the hops, but it is very balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium alcohol, which confirms the 8.0% on the bottle.

This is a very smooth medium-bodied ale. Good drinking, and reminds me of a good IPA or APA, but smoother and with less pronounced hops that many IPAs. One of the best IPAs I have tried, and another very good beer from Avery. I will buy this again.

Pours a cloudy, straw color. Good inch of foamy head.
Stanky hop aroma..this is off to a good start!
Hmmm, how to briefly describe taste....resiny tongue, little booziness appartent, not much bitterness ( I must disagree with the "brazenly bitter" tag, Avery!).
Aftertaste is sticky. Big gobs of lace on the glass.
A good beer, but as a discerning hophead I prefer Avery's basic IPA to this one.
8% is a little too boozy for sessioning....but this beer will find many fans.
