Avery Brewing Co. "Perzik Saison"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON: 04/04/17" and sampled on 05//19/17
$2 @ Weis Market #231, Conshohocken, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: I've had this beer before. There aren't many that I'll go back to regularly, particularly peach beers, but I really enjoy this one. It's hazy golden body looks like that of a hefeweizen, but the white head above it is too short, and unfortunately it doesn't hold very well or leave much lace behind. In the nose it's yeasty, peppery, spicy with coriander, floral, grassy, and fruity with a hint of citrus, some soft banana, and peach. Not surprisingly, the flavor follows, but don't think it's big and bold, all of those notes are there but it's fairly subdued. Perhaps the peach come out strongest, and it's completely authentic, perhaps to a bit of a fault as it's kind of weird, but I love that, it goes right along with the funkiness of a saison. It's sweetish upfront but then tart in the swallow which gives it a bit of character in that it changes as it crosses the palate whereas some beers remain basically the same start to finish. Some pepper and a bit of grassiness join the tartness in the finish to dry it. Medium bodied with a restrained carbonation that explains the lack of head retention, and which I think is a fair trade-off for the smoother mouthfeel, and less carbonic acid which would probably accentuate its tartness. I am curiosu as to how it would be with more bite though. In the end this is a summer release and I think that suits it perfectly.

love to see avery putting out all these new beers, its so cool, and this is inventive and tasty and is really different. its blonde and orange tinted and just a touch haze, bright and summery looking, with a tall inch of white head slowly fading. the peach is there in the nose, not anywhere near as forward as expected or hoped, but i cal smell the peach flesh, which seems to be really genuine. the yeast is mild as saisons go, and i like its mellowness, not sharp or astringent or overly fruity, allowing the peach to take care of that aspect, but drying it out well. the flavor lacks peach a bit, and as faint as it is in the aroma, its even more subtle in the smell. the intersection of yeast and fruit is great, and the wheat body is so creamy and fluffy, and that its dry is also very welcomed. so refreshing and interesting for summer, forget golden ale, this takes the cake as the slammer can for this summer. i love peaches, and as faint as it is, it all works super well. not the best beer in the world, and not the best of avery even, but it fills a rad niche and ill be buying it again for certain.

Aroma - Wit yeast. Clove. White bread. Light peach.

Taste - tart peach, spicy yeast, bread with a mild bitter and tangy finish.

Overall - not really a Saison. A pretty good American Belgian style summer fruit beer.

pours a hazy pale peach color, tall foamy head fades to a thin cover which stays
smells a little sweet overall, peachy but a little perfumy, sweet malt and yeast esters, honeydew
taste on the sweet side, peachy peppery saison, if they could tone down the sweet a little that would help, pepper notes make it enjoyable.
feel is a bit bubbly, which helps balance the sweetness, good full flavor in the mouth enhanced by the bubbles and the peppery feel
overall sweeter than i like, some nice things going on and maybe right flavor for someone

12 oz can. Pours hazy bright yellow with a big bubbly white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is funky Belgian yeast with some peaches.

The flavor is soapy floral spices and Belgian funk with some peach. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, ok saison.

Pours hazy, light yellow/orange, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is lemon, hay, light pepper and some peach. The peach is not as pronounced as I would have hoped it would be. Not a bad beer, but not one I would rush to get either.

Pours a cloudy yellow color, slightly peachy-pink tint. Light fruit smell, with very light yeasts and malt notes. Tastes more like a light, crisp witbier; fruity, slightly sweet, yeasty, crisp, and refreshing. There's a bit of chalkiness to it as well.

straw yellow with an extremely hazy complexion. There's a quarter inch of bright white on top. The aroma is sweet peaches and earthy, slightly peppery saison yeast. The taste is a bit muddled with the saison yeast in the forefront and the peaches really play more of a background note at the back of the palate. The mouth is so light I think it is a bit too thin. Carbonation is moderate.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a hazy yellowish orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of white head that settles into a small patchy layer.

Smell: A fruity and spicy Belgian style aroma with a scent of peaches and spice. Belgian yeast with a scent of pepper, clove, and funk. Good scent of peaches. Also some fruit hints of green apple, pear, apricot, and banana. Pale malt with a scent of wheat, grains, and cracker. Sweet hints of candied sugar. A pretty solid juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a fruity and spicy Belgian style taste with notes of peaches and spice. Belgian yeast with notes of clove, peppers, and funk. Big taste of peaches along with other fruit notes of green apple, pear, banana, and apricot. Pale malt notes of wheat, grains, and cracker. Some candied sugar sweetness. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, drying, and smooth.

Overall: A pretty nice twist on a Saison. Nice peach flavor along with the other fruit notes.

Slight fruity hints in the nose but no peaches are percievable. Somewhat of the peach presence arises upon the palate.

12 oz can poured into a lager glass. 27 March 2016 canning date on the bottom.

Look: Cloudy apricot colored body that's topped with a white head that soon recedes to a partial coat. Light spotty lacing.

Aroma: Fruity and, less so, yeasty.

Taste: Lightly spicy with yeast flavors. Lightly sweet fruitiness comes mainly from peaches and is more or less in balance with the yeasty/bready/spicy flavor notes. A slightly tangy finish with hints of white pepper and banana.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and carbonation.

Overall: a refreshing, moderately fruity saison.

Respectable, though the peach is a bit understated for what I was hoping. Nice mouthfeel. Refreshing.
