12oz can into a pint glass. canned 9/8/16, so 11 months old.

looks like a great stout, black body with some amber tones when held up to the light. Big creamy colored head, which leaves thick lacing.

aroma is only of roasted malt.

Kinda tingly on the tongue, roasted malted barley with some faint coffee notes. The hops have faded after 11 months, and the malted barley is a bit more heavily roasted than i would like personally.

medium heading towards full on the mouth, roasted malt on the finish.

Overall, and bearing in mind that this beer is almost a year old, it's still a little too roasted for this particular palate. A fresh one in all it's malted glory would likely be too much for me.

Bottled on 7/11/16. Served from bottle into glass at home. Pours deep black, completely opaque, with a small short lived but still velvety tawny colored head. Aroma full of roasted malt, lightly burnt toast and a little dark chocolate. No detectable hop aroma. More dark roasted malt flavor with bittersweet chocolate. No detectable hop flavor. Medium bitterness, medium carbonation and a dry finish. No alcohol flavor detected. Full bodied with a smooth creamy texture. The bottle label describes large amounts of hops used in the brewing but that is undetectable in the glass, although this may just be a matter of age. Overall this beer has an uncomplicated straightforward aroma and flavor but a great mouthfeel and finish.

A shout out to the sailor of stouts, woodychandler, for providing this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of coffee, smoke. Taste is smokey, roasted malts, some bitterness, hints of charcoal. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

This beer may -- or may not -- be heavenly. But I'm drinking it in heaven; eating brownies and watching the Cubs winning game 7 of the World Series.

Pours black, with less than a finger of khaki colored head. Fair retention, with a few strands of lacing left behind for keeps. Slightly musty, malty aroma note, backed with biscuit and toasted malts with a smidgen of chocolate. Flavor profile refrains from making too much of a statement. There are notes of roasted and musty malts, with chocolate, and a little pine hop bite at the back. Mouth feel is on the thin side, and almost watery. Overall, it's a fine stout that is easily drinkable for those concerned with pounding their dark beer faster, or for those who find the thick winter stouts to be too much.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Black in color with no light penetration. There's a quarter inch of creamy brown on top. The aroma is of bitter black malt with just a faint trace of smokiness. The flavor is an outstanding blend of bitter roasted malt with a lightly smokey note. There's a sweet dark licorice note at the end. What a ride for the palate! The mouth is creamy and smooth. Vastly underrated.

Pours Dark with a tan small head. Smells of Coffee and Chocolate, and malts. Taste is a deep coffee and Chocolate malts and a nice perfect Bitterness. Finishing with a bitter Chocolate Flavor. It Feels very smooth in your Mouth and Refreshing! I give it an overall rating of 5. This is a very GOOD Stout, what an American Stout should be. Give this one a try, you will like it I sure did!
