Big, roasty stout packs a ton of flavor. Uses plenty of rich roasted barley and a large amount of hops. Faint coffee presence but more of a roasted flavor than actual coffee. Full-Med. bodied, but extremely crushable.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a tulip

L: Dark, dark brown pour.. nearly black. 1.5 fingers of off-white head. Modest ring of lacing.

S: Roasted grains... chocolate and coffee. Sweet and toasty.

T/F: Follows the nose. Nice roasted malts and grains. Good cocoa and espresso notes. Mild hopping at the end adds some bitterness to the roast. Medium in body. Finish is espresso and slightly acidic.

O: A pretty standard stout. Good quality and flavor. Nothing earth shattering but a stand-up representation of the style.

12oz can into a pint glass. canned 9/8/16, so 11 months old.

looks like a great stout, black body with some amber tones when held up to the light. Big creamy colored head, which leaves thick lacing.

aroma is only of roasted malt.

Kinda tingly on the tongue, roasted malted barley with some faint coffee notes. The hops have faded after 11 months, and the malted barley is a bit more heavily roasted than i would like personally.

medium heading towards full on the mouth, roasted malt on the finish.

Overall, and bearing in mind that this beer is almost a year old, it's still a little too roasted for this particular palate. A fresh one in all it's malted glory would likely be too much for me.

Bottled on 7/11/16. Served from bottle into glass at home. Pours deep black, completely opaque, with a small short lived but still velvety tawny colored head. Aroma full of roasted malt, lightly burnt toast and a little dark chocolate. No detectable hop aroma. More dark roasted malt flavor with bittersweet chocolate. No detectable hop flavor. Medium bitterness, medium carbonation and a dry finish. No alcohol flavor detected. Full bodied with a smooth creamy texture. The bottle label describes large amounts of hops used in the brewing but that is undetectable in the glass, although this may just be a matter of age. Overall this beer has an uncomplicated straightforward aroma and flavor but a great mouthfeel and finish.

A shout out to the sailor of stouts, woodychandler, for providing this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of coffee, smoke. Taste is smokey, roasted malts, some bitterness, hints of charcoal. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

This beer may -- or may not -- be heavenly. But I'm drinking it in heaven; eating brownies and watching the Cubs winning game 7 of the World Series.
