The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of our friend Tom Boogaard’s grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart.

Our brewers included as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as they could, making this the perfect beer for folks who love malty beers and are ready to take the next step. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content.

The Reverend is the second installment of “The Holy Trinity of Ales” series.

Food pairing: Try The Reverend with a gyro or paired with our favorite: steamed spicy saffron mussels.

Belgian yeast, heavy on strawberry, burnt caramel finish. Decent but I've been spoiled by trappist offerings.

An old Favorite- used to drink this an do homework in college. Figured I need to rate it cuz it's a classic from one of my favorite breweries. this one does great with barrel aging- have loved all the variants the brewery has put out, including the pineapple addition.

L: deep red/purple hues with gold highlights. stark white head which gives a feint lacing. not as highly carbonated as it could be for the style.

S: Lots of caramel/toffee notes, some Belgian esters and dark fruits there too. a hint of booze but not in a detracting way. no hop presence, no off flavors.

T: Boozy upfront, but not "hot" or bothersome. Lots of caramel character. Much more caramel than dark fruit in the flavor. (Don't think they use dark candy syrup.) lots of malt and some nice bourbon-ish notes. Nice and drinkable despite the size/ maltiness of the beer. Very nice fermentation character that doesn't overwhelm the whole beer.

F: medium bodied, light carbonation. Nice mouthfeel and slightly oily on the palate.

O: An American classic- they really pull this one off. I would classify this one as a "quad" rather than a Belgian strong dark, as it much more malty and doesn't go overboard with dark fruit flavors.
