A: Deep brown bordering on black with a light creamy head topping the brew like soft clouds.

S: Caramel malt, peppercorn, cardamom, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla.

T: Definite tea thing going on in there. Licorice, clove, cinnamon, tea, and peppercorn. With a caramel and bread note in the finish.

M: Medium thick, with moderate to low carbonation.

O: Overall quite an interesting brew. Herbal, interesting, and definitely a change of pace.

Deep brown in color with a light haziness. Minimal light penetrates this beer. There's a half inch of frothy brown head on top. Moderate lacing. The aroma is less of chai tea than of black licorice or root beer. The taste is definitely chai tea to black licorice and it really overpowers everything else. The body is fairly light and smooth. The chai tea is clearing my sinuses!

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear very dark tea brown in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate garnet red highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of mottled medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of dark, bready, toasted, and caramel malts with a moderate aroma of chai tea spices - cinnamon, cardamon, nutmeg, allspice, anise, and vanilla.

T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of dark, bready, toasted, and caramel malts with only the slightest hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of chai tea spices - cardamon, anise, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon (in descending order of strength). Light amounts of bitterness towards the finish but the lingering flavor is that of cardamon.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: I debated purchasing this beer over multiple visits to the bottle shop but finally decided to pull the trigger... and I'm glad that I did. The flavors and aromas definitely remind me of a chai tea but without the associated sweetness.

12oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours a deep brown color with a bit of light creeping through, small creamy off-white head leaves some lacing behind

S- aroma actually smells like a mixture of a pumpkin beer and a winter warmer; lots of ginger, cinnamon & cardamon

T- tastes of cinnamon, cardamon, star anise, sweet malty undertones gives a bit of brown bread and brown sugar, the finish gives more spices with cinnamon leading

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

O- I'm a chai tea drinker, but this basically drank like a pumpkin ale, perhaps using a milk stout as the base beer would have helped a bit with the chai-like flavor

Pleasantly surprised by this beer, but then again, I was happy with the only other chai beer I've had (Stone), so.... Appearance was fine, as a frothy beige head emergeed from a coppery brown body. Nose held a little bitterness amongst some spicing that was hard to narrow down (as to exactly what spice) but that mystery was solved once tasted, as a bit of nutmeg and muddled allspice mixed together with a grainy bitterness in this otherwise light to medium bodied beer.

This beer pours a semi-cloudy medium brown with a medium head. The aroma offers up classic chai spices, vanilla, orange peel, light coffee, and tangerine peel. The flavor has the same classic chai spiciness, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, and vanilla, with subtle savory notes alternating with the sweet. The mouthfeel is smooth and very foamy. Overall this is a stellar example of spiced beer that remains balanced - not too sweet, just an enjoyable easy drinker.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of off white head which settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A herbal and spicy aroma with a scent of spices and chai tea. Upfront scent of chai tea along with spice hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and slight clove. Malt hints of caramel, toffee, grains, biscuit, nuts, and slight chocolate. A pretty nice aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a herbal and spicy taste with notes of chai tea and spices. Upfront taste of chai tea along with spice notes of nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, and clove. Malt notes of toffee, caramel, toast, biscuit, grains, nuts, and subtle chocolate. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and very smooth.

Overall: A very nice tea infused Brown Ale. Nice mix of tea and spice notes with the brown ale base.

Aroma is chai/spices, malts and vague spicy food. The flavor is chai/spices, malts, light fruit and a mix of slight sourness, sweetness and alcohol in the finish.
