From the 12 oz can in a snifter via a friend from work---THANKS RANDY!
This solid representation of a brown ale pours a deep dark muddy brown with
an excellent head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and
features some nice sudsy lacing. Nose of roasted malts, toasted nutty malts,
and touches of brown sugar. Flavors exceed the nose by presentation alone
with medium brown sugar and nutty roasted malts tossed into a light earthy note
as well as a hint of coffee and light chocolate flavors. Solid mouth feel; medium
light body, medium light carbonation, medium body, and a nice roasted aftertaste that
is lightly dry.

Overall---a solid little ale.

Cheers

Poured into pub glass. Nice beige head. Dark brown color.

Nose has some roast, and a hint of hops.

Taste follows nose, plus rich nutty notes. Roast comes out on the finish. Taste blooms as it warms.

Smooth mouth.

A good brown ale, slightly on the darker side. About what to expect from an exemplary example the style.

On tap:
Pours a darker brown, with its true color showing at the edges. Head is a beige cap that covers the surface as a puck. Lacing is in curtains.

Nose has a very very light acidity to a nutty, light brown bread nose, wit maybe just a hint of light brown sugar.

Taste opens neutral on malt/hop balance, with a dark yet sweetish bread opening. A little nuttiness comes next before a woody bitterness starts to turn the tide. At the back of the throat is a little tang as the beer leans slightly to the bitter. The ending is a fairly English brown taste, though with a fuller overall body.

A robust brown ale that may flirt ever so slightly towards a porter-like brown ale, but never gets bitter enough. The toasted malts also prevent this.
