Avery Rocky Mountain Rosé

A - moderate pour yields a 1-1/2 finger head that is fizzy and white. Heads fizzles away in about 1 minute to a small cap. Beer is a transparent pink tinged very light gold color. One of the lightest colored beers I’ve seen besides Michelob Ultra and the like. The picture shown on their website looks nothing like the actual beer. 3

S - I actually do get some of the grape upfront, followed by grains (mainly wheat). No hops. Very faint smell that doesn’t do much for me. 3

T - unfortunately it’s a step down from the smell even. I can tell there’s a grape aspect but it’s more just present than actually imparting any real flavor. It’s grainy, slightly sweet, and not much else. No hops or alcohol. A boring beer, even for it being a low calorie beer (100 calories). 2.5

M - actually quite nice. Carbonation suits the beer well and has a medium viscosity. Not watery, which is nice. 4

O - not a beer I’d purchase again. No off-flavors or brewing flaws, just not a very tasty beer. I feel like this could have been executed better through more of a pronounced grape flavor and with a bit more tartness to balance out the sweet. 3

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/9/2019. Pours slightly hazy pale golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly foamy and fluffy white head with poor retention, that reduces to a minimal ring of lace. Minimal lacing, some clinging bubbles and streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy white grape/wine, fruit skin, lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread, wood, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of grapes, fruity yeast, and light-moderate pale malt/earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy white grape/wine, fruit skin, lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread, wood, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and grape tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart/tangy white grape/wine, fruit skin, lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread, wood, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of grapes, fruity yeast, and light-moderate pale malt/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tart/tangy balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tartness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light body with a very smooth and fairly grainy/sticky/tangy, and lightly acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.4%. Overall this is an excellent beer/wine hybrid. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of grapes, fruity yeast, and light-moderate pale malt/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/tart/tangy/drying finish. Flavorful and not too watery for the ABV. Great balance of grapes fruity yeast complexity; with a nice clean pale/wheat malt backbone, and great earthy hop presence/balance. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. No complaints.
