22 oz bottle, no clear bottling date.

appears a hazy golden orange color, nice white head. great retention and lacing. big hoppy aroma- pine, grapefruit, orange. very pleasant.

taste is also dominated by crisp hop flavors. just enough malt to keep it from being too bitter or dry. lingering aftertaste. body is between thin and medium, very smooth carbonation. drinks nice.

overall - a very good DIPA. Avery comes through again.

22oz bomber poured into a chilled Cigar City pint glass.

A: Pours a golden, yellowish color with a nice white, frothy head that slowly recedes.

S: Lots of sweet malt and very little hops in the nose.

T: Tastes like it smells with a sweet syrupy malt taste overpowering the palate. Little to no hops for a DIPA.

M: Not enough balance between hops and malt for my liking.

O: Not nearly hoppy enough for my liking, an average DIPA with what's available these days.

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

Poured from bomber to pint glass.

A - The beer poured a solid amber-orange color with a hazy tint and fair amount of particles suspended throughout. Poured a nice 2 finger head with good retention.

S - Not nearly the hop character I expected only a bit of piney/earthy aromas from the hops. Much more prevalent was the caramel malt which offered a distinct sweetness.

T - Similarly to the aroma, not much hop character up front, in fact the front of the beer was entirely the caramel malt flavors. The flavor transitions to a mild hop profile of the piney/earthy flavors. Not much fruity or citrus hop character detected. The beer finishes with a medium bitterness which lingers for a fair amount of time.

M - Adequately carbonated though I also found the beer a bit cloying. I would like to see a bit more dryness in the front and better balance with the malt/hops.

D - Drinkable.

Overall, DuganA is a decent IPA though i found it to be far too sweet with an offering lacking of hop character. I am glad to have tried it but won't be coming back.

Poured into a perfect pint glass.

A. Pale golden yellow with an off white head that doesn't last too long.

S. A bit muted, but very promising. Fresh piney hops, some citrus, a bit floral, maybe a touch of mint. No discernible malt in the nose.

T. Pretty much hops all the way but with a distinctive and subdued sweetness that strikes a nice balance. Plenty of lingering bitterness.

M. Medium-bodied, slightly oily, strong carbonation.

O. Considering the number of times I've drunk this beer both on tap and from the bottle I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it before. A definite winner from Avery, just a notch or two down from Maharaja, but what isn't?
