Poured from a bomber into a Sam Adams pint.

A: Pours a hazy, golden orange color with one finger of off-white head. Good retention and great, sticky lace.

S: Peach, citrus and a bit of butter.

T: Spicy peach, some honey, touch of lavender, pine on the finish. Delicious. Herbal, minty sweetness lingers on the aftertaste, giving the hops something to balance with.

M: Medium-light body, well carbonated, and just a bit of oil.

O: Another fantastic beer from Avery. Tons of flavors, all of them good. Worth seeking out.

Bought this at the local BevMo, since it's the same company as many other beers I like, and the high ABV, I was pretty sure my wife and I would like it.

Pours cloudy, with an orange-honey color. The head sticks to the glass all the way down.

Smells strong of piney hops and some roastiness, almost a thick smell, with a hint of bread.

Tastes deep of piney thick hop bitterness up front, with a touch of sweetness in the middle, and a smooth finish. Doesn't hide the booze, and that's ok with me.

Feels thick, almost oily and viscous. Has a good amount of carbonation.

Overall, a very good beer, I had to fight my wife to share this one with her. How this is not labeled as a double IPA, I don't know. It's got almost everything I want from an IPA, great flavor, good mouthfeel and ABV. Just wish the flavor lasted a little longer.

APPEARANCE: Poured from the tap into a pint glass, this beer produced a 1/4" fizzy off-white head with good lacing that dissipated quickly. There was almost no carbonation in the clear, deep amber body.

AROMA: Hops all the way -- grass and pine in the main, but tropical fruits as well.

TASTE: Mmmm ... much more interesting than the aroma. Still hops all the way, but much more clear. Again dominated by grass and piney resin, plus a good but not overpowering hit of orange, citrus and grapefruit, plus a very light taste of alcohol. Not bad for a potent 8.5% alcohol DIPA. Not bad at all. While I didn't really taste the malt, I knew it had to be there simply because the hop flavor were moderated so well as to not be overpowering but to be complex and balanced instead

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body with a smooth texture; no carbonation that I could see; thin body lacing that dissipated quickly. The initial flavor was a heavy, but not overpowering, bitterness that moderated to an invigorating lighter bitterness at the end of a short finish, leaving a light, pleasant bitter aftertaste.

DRINKABILITY: This beer is very easy to drink I wouldn't drink more than two of these at a sitting unless I had a designated driver with me. This beer is memorably consistent with the profile of a DIPA, has a terrific price to value ratio and is definitely one that I would buy again -- as a matter of fact, I'd buy several extra to age.
