This headless, copper colored liquid is a 15.6% ABV beast. The alcohol content is beautifully disguised, until you stand up. It is a sweet confection--the raisins jump in on first taste, deepening into other dark fruit and bourbon. Chocolate and very subtle peanut butter rounds out a long, delightful finish. An absolute sipfest on a cold winter's night.

Pours our very dark brown. Not much foam formation.

Nose is bourbon barrel, dark chocolate, and earthy organic peanut butter with no sugar added. There is some dark fruit, but I'm not sure if thats from the raisin or that malt base.

Taste is, up front, a bourbon barrel aged stout. Big bourbon presence, like a really moist barrel. The peanut and chocolate comes in afterward and is more of an accent than the main attraction. It doesn't feel like a pastry stout.

Mouthfeel is full bodied with mild carbonation. Cloying with a little drying.

An interesting idea for an adjunct stout and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. Well balanced, not overdone.

Poured coal black and really a nice ring head.
Big cocoa on the nose, scent of roasted peanuts.
Milk chocolate, I can easily pick up peanuts here.
Dark fruits emerge from raisins. Barrel provides just a touch.
Well balanced, not too sweet. Smooth, thick feel.
Real deal stout, and you don't get any alcohol burn.
Great mix of flavors and none overpowering.

A 12oz bottle with a bottled on date of 11.1.2021

L - Dark brown, no head and very slight lacing.

S - Peanuts, chocolate, and bourbon goodness. Oh my!

T - Peanuts and chocolate, a little Reeces Cup-ish. Sweet finish, and very subtle bourbon flavors. Subtle heat as well. Tasty as hell!

F - Medium body, oily slick, slight heat as it goes down your throat

O - Another amazing barrel aged series brew from Avery. These never disappoint. Very tasty and hidden high ABV.

Crazy, unique taste. Without looking at the label it tasted like brown sugar. I see now it is actually raisins and peanuts. A bit of bourbon barrel, but subdued. A bit sweet. I’m not sure if I really like it or never want to drink another, but regardless I continue to be impressed by Avery.

Look: very dark, some cola highlights when held to light. Nice mocha head on the pour that creeps to a messy ring round the rim.
Smell: redolent granola! Who knew. Cacao nibs and peanuts right there too, all nestled on that wonderful Avery monster stout.
Taste: flavors more consolidated than in the nose. Raisons show up strong. As usual, fantastic Gold foil!

Coal-black body, opaque; thick, light khaki head, dense and creamy. Rich aroma blending sweet chocolate and cocoa notes with roasted peanuts. Big dark sweetness and booze flavor; undercurrent of roasted peanuts; cherry peeking through the depths. Heavy body; thick and sludgy; dry, slightly rough residual sugar feel; boozy warmth tempering the sweetness.

Leave it to Avery to brew a unique and tasty dark ale. The milk chocolate, cocoa nibs and peanut presence along with the bourbon barrel aging are evident. Raisins were also used, perhaps what I pickup as cherry is the raisin. Regardless, this is a beautiful monster of a beer.
