Served on-draught into a 4 oz taster at Avery in Boulder. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a one finger tan colour head of soft cream, nice thickness, and good retention. Body colour is a solid black. Nontransparent. Opaque.

Sm: Roast, mint, dark malts, chocolate, and cream. The mint is heavy and appealing. A pretty strong aroma.

T: Chocolate and mint, with a heavy spearmint finish. Dark malts form the foundation. Mint is dominant. Simple but imbalanced. The mint a bit too much here, actually.

Mf: Smooth, wet, and creamy. Good carbonation. Good thickness.

Dr: Very drinkable and enjoyable. But it's too simple. A decent offering from Avery. I honestly prefer Stone's collaboration mint chocolate stout, and given my opinion of each brewery, that says a lot. Avery can do much better.

Didn't take notes, so just a quick review from recent memory of today.

When served at the tap room it sits with a one finger head and seems to have moderate coronation. First smell comes through with crisp dry chocolate smell and then is followed by a spicy mint smell that not overpowering. The taste isn't to far off of smell. Initially sweet maltiness, followed by a dry chocolate flavor. Then all of a sudden mint pops in right at the end( every sip like clockwork). Then mint vanishes off a little and is replaced but a slight hop bitterness Overall i really did enjoy it. It felt like a dessert, and was as filling as one too. defanitley a beer for cold weather. Thought this original idea was done well.

Sampled on draft at taproom. 1/2 of head that moves to nice lacing. Cola colored with good clarity. Sweet mint and roast on the nose. Drinks very smooth with just a bit of bitterness on the back.

On tap at the brewery. Substantial peppermint aroma. Very dark brown body with a thin head, very lacey. Chocolate, but mint overpowers.Carbonation right there. Would likely make a good cask. Drinkable but not very drinkable.Acerage mouthfeel. Light hops, this is a storey in other flavours.

Pours dark, a robust rootbeer black, with easy two finger tan head.

Smells of garden mint and roasted malts and cocoa.

Tastes of baker's chocolate, slight pine and fresh mint leaf.

Medium bodied with a matching medium carbonation.

Drinkability? Hell ya, have on have another. Its a great dessert treat.
