Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 17.10%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
In the quest to create a collection of barrel-aged beers to be reproduced annually, Avery Brewing Company is releasing Uncle Jacob’s Stout, the second member of its Annual Barrel Series. The collection began with Rumpkin rum barrel-aged pumpkin ale in the fall of 2011, and now continues with this 17.4% ABV stout that was aged in first-use Bourbon barrels for 6 months. While the Avery Barrel-Aged Series features one-time-only batches, such as the recent Muscat d’Amour and Récolte Sauvage, the Annual Barrel Series features a selection of cellarable barrel-aged beers that fans can return to and get to know every year.

I will let the other geniuses rate this stuff by all of the nose and taste criteria. The bottom line is that this is great shit! Better than Bourbon County by far! If you haven't found it yet, you are missing one of the finest stouts known to man! No way can you taste 16.9% ABV in this beer. Sells retail for about 13 bucks and you can find it in bars for about $18.00. Pull the trigger my friends, it is well worth it! You get the nicest little buzz on only one 12 oz bottle.

Had this on tap at Avery Brewery in Boulder and can't imagine a more rich and flavorful stout. On par and perhaps better than Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
