Had this at the brewery today!!! Going off memory here. Pours up a dark brown with a decent head. Aroma is chai tea. Don't know what that really entails but that's what I get. Some dark toasty malts as well. Flavor is ginger fo sheezy. Ginger and chocolate and vanilla. Excellent flavors. Medium to full bodied. Smooth beverage

Enjoyed a 4 oz. taster then a full pint, poured at the Avery Taproom earlier today.

A: Nonic glass shows off a deep brown with amber hints and a small but sturdy (1/2 finger) ivory head. Steady carbonation and good creamy/gauzy lace.

S: I'm a BIG fan of chai tea and this definitely delivers in the aroma. Tea leaf spicing is subtle at first, but opens gradually as the pint warms - my nose started twitching and my mouth instantly salivated.. Chocolate-y hints as well.

T: Chai is a hard flavor to describe, it's a little ginger some crushed pepper, anise, clover/honey and I don't know what else - all I know is that I really enjoy its layered earthy flavors. This brown isn't that sweet, but does have a fudgy backing and a bit of ashy/mineral bitterness with the dry, leafy flavors.

M: Smooth, not-quite-creamy body. Medium build at best and a fleeting chocolate maltiness that lingers for minutes, intermingled with that exotic tea spicing.

O: Very tasty brown. I'm not sure if I would have found the "base" brown ale to be remarkable, but that point doesn't matter as the adjunct chai makes for an especially delicious flavor. It's a taproom-only release, so don't look for it in bottles (but, damn, I'd certainly by some). Both my wife and I loved it - well done, Avery!
