Something’s shakin’ with Shakedown Street--Southbound’s fresh new take on a French Saison. This light kettle soured Farmhouse Ale is infused with a hefty dose of Southern Cross, lending this brew a heady aroma of citrus and pine. Take some time to poke around, and you’ll discover complex layers of bitterness, pepper and spice dominated by hops and an abundance of floral notes. Too much too fast? Not at just over 5% ABV. So kick back and enjoy the ride.

12oz can that exploded upon opening. Got 90% of it into a glass. Hazy golden color with a huge foamy head. It smelled of lemon, citrus, wheat and bread. Spicy with tart lemon, green apple and a toasted caramel finish. Very dry.

The beer pours a clear straw color with tons of soapy, white head that leaves thick lacing.
The smell is tart and grassy with a nice stone fruit.
The taste follows pretty closely with a nice farmhouse funk and a lingering, bitter afteraste.
The mouthfeel is highly carbonated and smooth.
Overall a nice beer. The only date on the can is 094. I'm guessing this is old or I would get more hoppiness on the nose from the dry hopping.

A: Cloudy gold colt, thick white head, good lacing
S: I get a sour smell I guess from the saison yeast
T: Sweetness then the sourness comes in, I get some citrus.
M: Medium
O: I'm not a huge fan of this style but it is a good beer for what it is. Quality is there I'm just not a huge fan.

12 oz can served in a lager glass.
Pours a hazy, pale yellow with a finger and a half cap of white foam. The head settles to a full surface coat and deposits sheets of sticky lace.
Smell: funky with lots of lemon and other citrus notes, some faint piney hops, floral notes, and baked bread.
Flavor: Strong and tart, with suggestions of yeast, hay, citrus peel, guava, white pepper, wheat crackers and, in the finish, piney hops.
Feel: Medium-light body with medium+ carbonation.
Overall: very flavorful, moderately funky, highly complex and multilayered.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.
Massive white froth, head retention reaches epic proportions. Mild haze within the pale hue. Herbal, grassy, tart, grainy, funky, fresh ... quite the aroma. Smooth, fluffy mouthfeel. Mild tartness, funk is pleasing with earthy tones. Lots of hop flavor and some bitterness. Herbal with that rustic Saison tone throughout. Old school flavors with a new twist. I really dig this brew.
